Here is a list of some of Miami’s best dining experiences and their private dining options.  You'll find everything from rooms for 10 to others for several hundred, and even buyouts of the entire restaurant. For those of you whose choice will be dictated by the kind of cuisine you'd like as well as the size of the room or restaurant, I've indicated cuisine type. Happy celebrating!
One of my new “go to” places for a casual, relaxed and delicious lunch or dinner with friends is the waterfront Bayshore Club in Coconut Grove. I’ve been there four times in six weeks which is a lot for me given the number of places I need to check out. My friends share my opinion as do a lot of diners, as it’s not easy to get a reservation in the evening, especially now that there’s live music five nights a week and at Sunday brunch.
Over the past year readers have asked me to recommend top private rooms at restaurants in Miami.  I have taken your requests to heart and put together a list of some of Miami’s best dining experiences and their private dining options, just in time for holiday parties and family reunions.  You'll find everything from rooms for 10 to others for several hundred, and even buyouts of the entire restaurant, all at different price points. For those of you whose choice will be dictated by the kind of cuisine you'd like as well as the size of the room or restaurant, I've indicated cuisine type. Where I've written up a restaurant there's a link except in the case of steakhouses which you can find in my recent blogposts with clicks at the end. Here is Part 1 in a two part series.  Happy celebrating!
Where to have a delicious light bite before going to the Arsht Center or the Arena? It has been a challenge, but now there’s a new find, Mazeh Miami in downtown. The casual, new and upbeat spot with a different menu is from, GPG Hospitality, a successful New York restaurant group known for its modern take on Middle Eastern food. Its first Miami outpost is conveniently located,  across from the First Street Metromover station, a five minute walk to the Arena and ten minute walk to the Arsht Center. And more, it’s in the Yotel, an affordable (yes, affordable hotel) for your out of town visitors.

Ever since I heard that one of the owners of a fave ,Toscana Divino ,had opened a lower priced Itallan restaurant, Coral House Miami,  on Coral Way it had been on my “to try” list. Then when an email announcing $10 pizzas and pastas on Monday arrived in my inbox, it moved up on my list. We finally went with friends for happy hour and then returned a week later with other friends, all of us pronouncing the food delicious, the prices a very good value even off the regular menu, and its outdoor terrace delightful.
A new successful Asian food entry from Spain now in Wynwood, baguette making kit, Amal's rooftop terrace,  Katz's special meals for the Jewish holidays, Fairchild Tropical Garden's first annual Bacon & BBQ classic, a top restaurant opens for Brickell lunch and more, in Eating News, Part 3 for September.
In September in Miami we need to mix things up, with new excitement and FUN. And for sure, different and entertaining is the Miami celebration on September 30. This event commemorates major Indian holidays beginning with Navratri and ending with Diwali, the Indian equivalent of Christmas. Billed as the night of Music, Masti and Masala, it features Indian entertainment, festive traditional Indian food, shopping, dancing, and more. And no big price tag here.  Plus, want to learn how to dance Bollywood style before the event? Read on until the end for how.
