Steakhouses in Miami Beach, My Picks

RED the Steakhouse

Which Steakhouses in Miami Beach to go to?  With more guests coming to town, holidays on the horizon and the cultural season about to explode, I’ve picked five of my favorite steakhouses in  Miami Beach with different ambiances and price points. They range from glam and traditional clubby decor to casual . Plus, all have solid options for those who don’t want meat.  My reviews of the restaurants are highlighted in red. Smith & Wollensky

S,mith & Wollensky, one of Miami’s traditional steakhouses with branches across the country, is always a solid bet for a casual meal or celebration. Adjacent to South Pointe Park, it features a lovely waterside, treelined setting with spacious outdoor patios, some seats with a roof cover ,and others with umbrellas. It’s a top choice for outdoor dining in a steakhouse in Miami Beach. The menu of course is heavy with beef options and all the sides that make a perfect match, but also, popular seafood choices, salads and sandwiches. It’s open for lunch and dinner seven days a week. Grilling picanha at Fogo de Chao

Fogo de Chao in South Beach and Coral Gables (and now Fort Lauderdale)

Fogo de Chao in South Beach and the newest outpost in  Coral Gables specialize in Brazilian churrasco. They’re known for their high-quality cuts of meat cooked over an open flame in full view, and then carved tableside by gaucho chefs. Meats are the main event, but for non-meat eaters, there is plenty to indulge in with an all-you-can-eat salad bar.  One of the best deals in town can be combined with their market table and feijoada bar which can be purchased separately for lunch or dinner. There’s also one in Fort Lauderdale.   Bom Proveito!

STK Steakhouse Miami

STK Miami is unlike any other of the top steakhouses in Miami Beach if you want your steak with a stylish, glam atmosphere but not over the top.

Of course there’s the prime Angus beef and a selection of primo seafood, but, wait, there’s more.. The ambiance includes guests celebrating special occasions, not surprising given the “glam” ambiance, loungey music and delicious food, all of which come together to create what STK calls “vibe dining.”

With low lighting and intimate spaces set off by high vases with white silk cherry blossoms, STK creates an inviting and warm atmosphere. Soft mauve lights add a welcome element of color and richness. Seating options include plush curvy, leather banquettes and sleek, polished mahogany table tops. The inviting bar area has small cocktail tables strategically placed for people-watching and for enjoying the long happy hour.

The menu is divided into starters, market salads, raw bar, seafood platters, steaks, entrees, sides and desserts. Portions are large, so can be shared.

For the main event, there are steaks ranging from a 6-oz. filet to a 34- oz. dry-aged tomahawk and Japanese wagyu.

Save room for decadent desserts including a warm chocolate chip cookie sundae with vanilla ice-cream and caramel sauce, raspberry coulis cheesecake or chocolate cake with chocolate ganache sauce – how can you go wrong?
