The opening of Sukoshi  Miami at Aventura Mall, the first in Florida of this Korean beauty store, gave me a chance to learn more about this very hot new beauty category as I knew they’d have a knowledgeable manager. Sure enough, Artem Larionov, the manager, began to open up this amazing world with an introduction to the most popular brands and products,  for face, skin and hair care as well as cosmetics. Plus, the shop, painted in sorbet shades of lime green and pink, also features his and hers Japanese products and would you believe, Chinese cosmetic brands. Think a machine that will do salon type facials at home, hair perfume, and “needle shot” cream that awakens the skin and prepares it for more products to come.
The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) has announced the return of Miami Spa Months for its 18th year. Here's a list of all participants with links and highlights of some of the new treatment offerings plus a new parking discount.
It's happening. Miami Worldcenter in downtown, and it makes for a delightful afternoon filled with world class public art you can self tour with the map I provided and description of the art works. While not everything is open yet, you can also spend the afternoon  doing some shopping at places that are new to Miami like the new Savage X Fenty, located at 851 NE 1st Avenue, Unit D-138, the brand’s first Miami location of the pop singer Rhianna’s lingerie and apparel brand. After, stop in for lunch or dinner at one of the restaurants that are also a "first" in Miami such as the Brasserie Laurel, located at 698 NE 1st Avenue. See below for a list of all the shops, restaurants, opening dates and other things to do in Miami Worldcenter. Valet parking is available for $12 for the first 3 hours.
The new 20,000 square foot Hurrem Hammam Miami is a combination luxurious and  authentic Turkish hammam and spa. For my taste, it’s arguably the best spa in Miami when considering the top quality of the facilities and décor and wide range of services. They call it “wellness & spa” and indeed it is. And better yet, you can spend the entire day for the price of a lunch at a fancy restaurant in Miami. Don’t want to pass up lunch? They have Topkapi Turkish restaurant as well.
It's that time, Miami Spa Months 2024, where we can pamper ourselves for less thanks to The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) From now to August 31, locals and visitors can enjoy best-in-class spas across Greater Miami & Miami Beach with enticing deals, more than 35 offers. Indulge in treatments and therapies starting at $109.
U.S. News & World Report used to have a feature I enjoyed, "News You Can Use".  Instead of "finds", I  now adapted that term to be "News You're Sure to Use"  in my blog, which are products and services I've found and like. This month you'll find a more expanded list than usual, with home services; tips on fashion, grooming, travel; jewelry repair; even a new business idea;  and some darn good empanadas (you know me, had to get the food in). Hope you find these useful. And love to hear your "finds" as well!
Heaven knows we can use some spa and wellness treatments now, and especially if they're at discounts of up to 50% and some with added amenities. So it's good news Miami Spa Months 2021 kick off now and last through August 31. Here's the list with clickable links of the 32 participants and the offerings.
Food, beauty/wellness, men's fashion, a great online store to have a customizable smartphone case (that's cheap too) and more in "Finds" for June.
Heaven knows we can use some spa and wellness treatments now, and especially if they're at discounts of up to 50%. So it's good news Miami Spa Months 2020 kick off this weekend and last through September 30. Here's the list with clickable links of the nearly 20 on board to date.
Since lockdown I haven't gone to a beauty salon, though some friends have gone to "rogue" salons.   Bottom line, my concern about the safety issue. With the opening of personal grooming services everywhere in the state, and our desperation with out of control hair, Mr. W and I decided to give it a try with our regular salon, Danny Jelaca salon in Miami Beach. Here's a tale of our experience, and guidelines for staying safe at beauty salons and barber shops.
