Julia & Henry's, the new food hall on Flagler Street in Downtown Miami is impressive in its scope and number of vendors and food quality.  Mr. W, a fellow restaurant reviewer and her husband and I tried seven food offerings and we agreed on the verdict. It's  a fun place to go, especially with a group of friends, order different dishes and have a grand tasting.
From elegant settings to unassuming spots and everything in between, we’ve compiled an extensive list of Miami’s best sea-food dining destinations.  Whether you prefer a ‘down-home’ vibe or an elegant evening out, Miami has something to offer – from hook, line and sinker.  Here's Part 1, the best seafood restaurants in Miami Beach.
Heaven knows there’s no lack of Asian, Mediterranean, or Mexican restaurants in Miami so we were happy to see – surprise – an American bistro open. Better yet, it’s run by a professional operation that is also serious about its food. The Henry is the creation of Sam Fox, eleven time James Beard nominated restauranteur and founder of Fox Restaurant Concepts that owns multiple brands. It’s open for breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week and also has a ventanita selling my kind of pastries and cakes. We tried The Henry  Brunch pre-opening and it surpassed our expectations.
A romantic setting, pampering service and many of my favorite modern pan-Asian dishes made me feel like it was date night at the new Tanuki at River Landing. The flagship of the group that also owns Tanuki in South Beach faces the Miami River which, if you sit on the lovely outdoor terrace, you can see through rich vegetation and enjoy Miami’s special sunsets. That combined with the handsome teak furniture, deep purple cushions, rattan chairs and sense of serenity, made me feel as if I were in Southeast Asia. And take note, they offer a prix fixe lunch deal for as little as $25 plus a happy hour that’s also appealing.
Here is Part 2 with more quality lunch specials in Miami Beach, Coral Gables and Bal Harbour. Enjoy enjoy a three-course meal for from $25 per person plus tax and tip.  Find everything from Italian, Greek and Asian cuisine to  a Brazilian steakhouse churrasco lunch at a price you can’t resist.  If you missed Part 1, click here.
Lots of eating news in this month including a first look at Julia & Henry's food hall extravaganza, all day brunch 7 days a week,  CalaMillor replaces Delicias de Espana spot, new omakase restaurants from notable chefs, amazing burnt Basque cheesecakes in 8 flavors, exquisite vegetarian menu from Fiola and much more.
With prices on the rise and inflation taking a bite out of each paycheck, why not try to see and be seen at great lunch venues offering fabulous food with prix fixe menus.  Many of Miami’s four and five star restaurants roll out their red carpet for lunch, often offering their signature dishes.  From as little as $25, enjoy a two or three-course meal plus tax and tip.  Here’s a roundup of local fine dining restaurants offering everything from Italian, French and Latin to Greek and Asian cuisine and even a Brazilian steakhouse churrasco lunch at a price you can’t resist.  Here's Part 1 of a two part series.
Zucca is classy, service-centric, attractive, and with very good Italian food, dishes from Sardinia to Tuscany. The soft background music is a complement to the place, the right volume level, rather than a main event. White tablecloths are perfectly starched, the lighting is just right, and a bouquet of white roses graces every table.  It’s pricey, but not over the top. Little wonder it was busy on a Monday evening in late May, including with small groups of friends.
Tapas lovers take note! Thanks to the tourist office of New York and Miami in cooperation with Spain Fresh, both cities will be the site of the first US Tapas Week June 11 to 18. (And if you can't go those dates, this is a guide too to some of the best tapas in Miami). The Festival will overlap with World Tapas Day 2023 on June 16th.  Thirteen restaurants in Miami from Downtown, The Falls, Miami Beach and Coral Gables to Allapattah and Brickell area will be participating, offering everything from special tapas menus with a discount, a prix fixe option, or some other promotion. Flamenco and rhumba entertainment too!  For a list of the restaurants and my picks on the deals, read on!
When I heard about all these different and fun events were coming up in Miami in the coming week, I decided to do a special edition of Things to Do. Check out these seven Miami events in June starting June 3.
