Here's another reason to go to Palm Beach (besides one of my favorite boutiques and the Norton Museum) --the annual Palm Beach Food & Wine Festival 2024 (PBFWF) in partnership with Wine Spectator, a four-day lineup of food-related and wine happenings taking place Thursday through Sunday, December 12-15, 2024. Guests can anticipate a star-studded lineup of renowned chefs and culinary personalities from around the globe, from live cooking demonstrations and wine tastings to intimate chef-led workshops and private dinners. Thanks to the partnership with Wine Spectator,  wine is a major part of the draw.

When my New York friend and I left Mona Lisa Miami we were already planning a return dinner there with our partners.  How’s that for an endorsement? Was it the “million potato tartare”, earmarked for one of my best dishes of the year? The four course menu with every dish a winner for $89 a person? Or the glam décor and intimate setting and our waiter Gregory, who couldn’t do enough for us. No surprise, all of the above.
The restaurant scene is booming with new entries, and here in Eating News are new ones to check out in the Grove and Miami Design District; a delicious cocktail recipe to fuel the holidays; DIY Mexology;  lunch and dinner special at Truluck's and news on the popular bagel spot, Bagel Emporium. all in Eating News - Part 1 for November 2024.  Next week check out part 2.

Michelin starred Sushi by Scratch omakase has almost a cult following at its ten restaurants from New York and California to Texas and more. The night I went to their new permanent location for Sushi by Scratch Miami,  in Coconut Grove,  a couple who just moved here from Malibu said it was one of their first restaurant stops. I can see why. The quality of the nigiri is extraordinary, and then there are the unconventional and delicious taste combinations, the beverage flights including Japanese whisky, and the friendly and engaging atmosphere.
Todd Zimmer, an Executive Chef formerly from Prime 112 and a sous chef from Morocco, a waterside location with its own dock, a menu that interestingly embraces all of the Med and heavy on seafood. I was intrigued by the sound of YAYA Miami. Off my Italian friend and I went and glad we did, especially after devouring the risotto with lobster and caviar butter and the Jumbo stone crabs, among the first of the season. That alone would be reason enough for return visits.

For sure, Little Havana is well known as a tourist attraction in Miami, but if you haven't been there in awhile, you're missing some of the new restaurants, bars and shops that have opened. I thought it was time to get a tourism pro who knows not only what's new, but also, the history of the area, some of which came as a surprise to me (as in some of the first residents were from Greece and Syria). So here you have it, a Day in Little Havana, newest in my series - Karen
