If you haven't been to destination Upper Buena Vista, go. And if you've been before, go back as there are a number of new boutiques and eateries worth the visit at this lifestyle destination that's definitely not your same old, same old shopping mall or area.  Picture this: lush vegetation and huge trees including an 80 year old banyan tree, their leafy canopies almost embracing the single story shops ressembling Japanese temples, thatched roof huts , and expansive windows that allow you to look into the fashion  finds inside.Then there are the complementary services – food,  cryotherapy, hair, nails and beauty bar,  and more. Parodi Costume Collection, A Fashion Museum in Miami

Never did I imagine a fashion museum the likes of the Parodi Costume Collection in the heart of Miami, surely up there with cool things to do in Miami. Think over 5000 pieces from the most iconic names in world of fashion dating from 1880 through the 20th century to the present. Books have been written about facets of the collection, especially fashion from the Roaring Twenties . Part couture showroom, part museum, it's all the work of the Spanish born  Paquita Parodi who's the collector, restorer and fashion historian. There's currently an exhibit on Fashion in Orbit, Space Age Past and Present from now until September 15, 2025.

Lovely Swimwear: Destination Colombia

You've seen me refer on several occasions to the incredible fashion and design talent in Latin America. And unlike a lot of the fashion one sees gracing the pages of leading fashion magazines and blogs, it's flattering, attractive and wearable. This was proven again recently at an event for Miami Swim Week 2020. It was the presentation of the spring/summer 2021 swimwear collections by 12 Colombian designers at Paraiso Miami Beach , entitled Destination Colombia. Here's a photo gallery, preview of what you can expect in the stores. Notice how eyeglass chains have become a new fashionable accessory.

Even my super picky good friend who worked for a “who’s who” of the Italian fashion industry bought not just one, but several. We were snapping them up like hotcakes.

My Top Spot for Shoes

Looking for flats -- classic ballerinas in many neutral shades and fashion forward styles with a European sensibility -- along with sneakers and espadrilles? One of my favorite shoe stores in Miami is Menina Step. Their shoes are solid quality, made in Spain and a steal. When I go shoe shopping , times that I do buy it's seldom more than one pair. Seeing their new collection I bought four pair and the total cost? Under $300.
