You’ve seen me refer on several occasions to the incredible fashion and design talent in Latin America. And unlike a lot of the fashion one sees gracing the pages of leading fashion magazines and blogs, it’s flattering, attractive and wearable. This was proven again recently at an event for Miami Swim Week 2020. It was the presentation of the spring/summer 2021 swimwear collections by 12 Colombian designers at Paraiso Miami Beach , entitled Destination Colombia. Here’s a photo gallery, preview of what you can expect in the stores. Notice how eyeglass chains have become a new fashionable accessory.
The project showcased 12 Colombian designers and featured established brands such as Onda de Mar, Verde limon, and Encantadore,
but also new rising stars in the swimwear and resort wear industry including Palmacea, Mola Mola, Ancora, Carolina Estefan, Estivo, Corpo, Praia, Nawa, and Mar de Rosas.
Many of the fabrics and textiles are made in Colombia.
In the spirit of new normal, the swimwear and resort wear enthusiasts watched fashion show live through Procolombia’s official fashion Instagram account @ColombianFashionTrends and www.paraisomiamibeach.com as well as a small group in person in the Miami Design District. Stitch Lab, the luxury online retail space for Colombian fashion hosted a media reception for Miami Swim Week 2020 serving mimosas by Miami Cocktail Company.
Silvia Cobos and Jetlagmode accessorized the show with shoes, bags and some WOW earrings all made using sustainable handmade techniques,
