Editors note, July 2017: The shop has relocated to the Village of Merrick Park.
Seldom do I go to a fashion boutique where I want to buy everything. This recent discovery first came at Miami Swim Week where I fell in love with the Brazilian swimwear and lounge wear designer Adriana deGreas. She recently contacted me to tell me she just opened a shop in South Miami at 1563 Sunset Drive (T.305-332-3699) so off I went in a flash to see what could be Miami’s best swimwear. What’s so special? The fabric designs, inspired by nature especially the tropics, are exquisite, and the mix and match pieces are the embodiment of swimwear glamour. There are one and two piece swimsuits in bikini and panty style, including the new “triangle”model with a cutout bikini top that Kendall Jenner sported on the cover of GQ . It was the suit of the season among the rich and famous in Brazil
Crepe de chine or silk and satin dresses, caftans, tunics and capes can be mixed not only with bikini tops, but also with bodysuits for lounging wear.
The silk palazzo pants are especially lovely, worn with the retro turbans and cat eye sunglases by Karlsson.
Other fabrics include pleather, lace and crochet. The line starts at $300 up to $2000 for caftans. Her fashions are also sold online by Net-a-Porter, Nancy Meyer, Moda Operandi and others, though the images don’t really do them justice.
Speaking about designs inspired by nature albeit with a riot of color and bold, in your face prints, this season they’re all the rage and not just at Dolce and Gabbana. Elite Traveler magazine claimed they’re inspired by the US ending the Cuba embargo, with designers having Latin flair, steamy Havana nights and tropics on the mind. Whatever, they’re fun and fabulous. Here are some examples I especially like:
And then, at a lower price point you can always count on Ted Baker to have some wonderful floral print skirts, tops, dresses and bathing suits. He has shops in Aventura Mall, Bloomie’s in Aventura and on Lincoln Road. Here’s one of his latest:
