If you haven't been to destination Upper Buena Vista, go. And if you've been before, go back as there are a number of new boutiques and eateries worth the visit at this lifestyle destination that's definitely not your same old, same old shopping mall or area.  Picture this: lush vegetation and huge trees including an 80 year old banyan tree, their leafy canopies almost embracing the single story shops ressembling Japanese temples, thatched roof huts , and expansive windows that allow you to look into the fashion  finds inside. Then there are the complementary services – food,  cryotherapy, hair, nails and beauty bar,  and more. Here’s a rundown of Upper Buena Vista attractions with a short description of each.
Major players Menin and Clique Hospitality are betting big on their Delray Beach Market, one of the largest food halls in the country and the largest in Florida. It's not just about the number and quality of food purveyors, but also, about plans for curated art and food exhibitions, live music shows, culinary schooling, celebrity activations, and events . Add to that an admirable community outreach program, and you have one of South Florida's newest community destinations and a lifestyle experience where you want to linger.
My youngest son was having a landmark birthday and it was his girlfriend’s birthday too. Where to go? New York foodie friends told me about COTE Korean Steakhouse--- the restaurant’s Michelin star (the only Korean steakhouse in the world to get one), the memorable food, swanky décor, top notch service. But nothing prepared me for how exceptional it is. Miss Picky couldn’t find anything she didn’t like, nor did the family. So what is special?
Did you know great lunch specials in Miami can be had at leading five and four star restaurants? We're talking two or three course meals of their often signature dishes for $30 or less plus tax and tip. Here's a roundup of 13 picks offering everything from Italian, French and Indian to Chinese, Greek, Asian cuisine and even a steakhouse.
Owner, chef and artist Edixon Hernandez of Crudos Fusion Art has attracted the likes of Sting, Maluma, Alejandro Sanz and Carlos Vives with his creativity and WOW creations fusing Asian and Latin flavors.  And it seems whenever I would pass the restaurant, it's full, so I decided a visit was more than in order. Off we went to Wynwood and we really enjoyed the food and art experience.
So many "goodies" this month in Eating News in Miami for April 2021, I'm not even going to attempt to summarize them in this intro. Just have a look. You won't want to miss this!
A welcome new addition to waterside dining options in Miami is Tigre, nestled by a manatee sanctuary and yet steps off Biscayne Boulevard. It’s inspired by traditional Buenos Aires cafes and neighborhood bistros or “bodegones” in the river town north of the Argentine capital. The menu at this Argentinian restaurant in Miami is laced with the country's classics, with more than a nod to Miami’s love of seafood and farm to table vegetables. With its location and garden like décor, friendly service, tasty  menu and reasonable prices, it’s a good choice for a meal with friends and family and casual date night.
I’ve experienced two exceptional new restaurants in three weeks. No doubt about it -- the Miami restaurant scene is coming back strong. The newest addition to my favorites list is recently opened Salvaje which fuses Japanese cuisine with Latin American elements. Part of the Spanish-owned Salvaje group which comes to Miami via several locations in Spain and Latin America, they tout their high quality which more than lived up to its promise, along with an enticing menu, scrumptious food, and casual chic décor.
New eating spots and tips for foodies, iconic New York foods, Cuban brewery, a stylish tea room and light bites, all in Eating News for March 2021, here Part 1.
