You’re probably thinking that I’m really going out on a limb by claiming to have found Miami’s best bread. I’m willing to stake my ground, that’s how good Zak the Baker’s organic sourdough bread is.  Zak and  I first met at Pinecrest Gardens Farmer’s Market when he had sold out of bread. That was my first clue. My second was reading about his bread on Chowhound, the serious “foodies” discussion forum. He was praised to the hilt. I found out he had his own website and making a visit, saw his bread is sold in several places throughout Miami, among them Perricone’s Marketplace at 15 SW 10th Street where a fresh shipment arrives every day but Sunday. Off I went on Saturday thinking of Sunday breakfast and there it was — three different kinds, all organic and all sourdough — multigrain, fig and rye, and  roasted potato, and each $6.99  . The bread is sheer heaven — crusty, chewy, and extra flavorful. You can taste the different grains. Toast it or eat it at room temperature, delicious either way. We didn’t even want to compromise the flavor by eating jam. Just high quality unsweetened butter.  Welcome to Miami Zak. We needed a baker like you.
