Following on the successful opening in Coral Gables, Brazilian churrascaria Fogo de Chão has opened its steakhouse in Fort Lauderdale. On Las Olas Boulevard, it features a 226 seat dining room, large covered outdoor patio and bar area. And, as always,t he delicious churrasco and other meats cooked over an open flame and an extensive salad bar. They’re also be featuring their popular all day happy hour with $9 Brazilian-inspired cocktails, $7 glasses of South American wines, $5 beers, small plates like Lobster & Shrimp Tacos, churrasco meat boards and grilled Brazilian cheese. El Tucan Party Select
Every Friday night throughout the month of September, Miami’s hospitality company, Mr. Hospitality, will host a riveting new party, The Late-Night Summer Series at El Tucán. The Brickell hotspot invites you to join them for their third seating of the night starting at 11PM. Guests can enjoy scrumptious late-night bites while they dance around to tunes by special DJs. DJ PS1 kicked off the series last week and upcoming weeks have a line-up featuring DJ’s emkay, +Nikolas+, and Felva. New Restaurants Coming Up
Big foodie news in Coral Gables, star Chef Thomas Keller plans to open Bouchon, the award-winning French bistro, there in early 2023. The chef/proprietor behind three-star Michelin restaurants The French Laundry and per se, and newly starred, The Surf Club Restaurant, will be collaborating with Chef de Cuisine Thomas Castellon, an alum of Chef Keller’s The Surf Club Restaurant and TAK Room, NYC, to lead the culinary team. In keeping with Chef Keller’s Yountville and Las Vegas locations, the menu will be centered around Bouchon’s seasonally changing French dishes and will include its signature raw bar with a selection of “fruits de mer.” Quintessential offerings such as Bibb Lettuce Salad, Escargots de Bourgogne, Steak Frites, Roast Chicken and Mussels will remain fixtures throughout the year. This fall Bal Harbour Shops will get a new Mediterranean restaurant, Aba.From Top Chef alum CJ Jacobson and Executive Partner and Divisional President Marc Jacobs, Aba will showcase a menu that features a fusion of rich flavors from Israel, Lebanon, Turkey and Greece with Chef CJ’s Californian influences. Aba will bring the coastal vibes of summer in the Mediterranean to Bal Harbour with a 240+ seat restaurant including an indoor dining room and bar, covered patio, mezzanine bar and terrace. www.abarestaurants.com
And two news items from the pages of the Miami Herald: Miami star chef Jeremy Ford of Stubborn Seed in Miami Beach is coming to the Gables this fall. In the spot formerly of Public Square on 6915 Red Road, the new restaurant will be named Beauty and the Butcher. Not surprisingly, an emphasis will be on meat.
New York City’s popular Italian restaurant Rao’s is taking over for Lure Fishbar at the Loews Miami Beach, opening in 2023. Dating from 1896, it has hosted celebrities ranging from Leonard DiCaprio to Martin Scorsese. Lure Fishbar is open now until further notice.
