The Most Romantic Restaurants in Miami

There is no better way to celebrate romance than enjoying a special meal with your special someone. Here are MiamiCurated’s picks for the most romantic restaurants in Miami fit for “foodies” :

Red, the Steakhouse

119 Washington Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33139
(305) 534-3688

Named one of the best steakhouses in the country by publications such as Playboy and Esquire, Red is the place if you want a great prime steak for this special day. The meat is the finest quality, perfectly charred,  and can be accompanied by a choice of 9 sauces such as the “Horseradish Crème Fraîche”, “Béarnaise” or “Black Truffle Demi”.  Pair the steak with a wedge salad  — crisp pancetta, crumbled bleu, red onion and tomatoes, along with truffled mashed potatoes. For dessert try the  chocolate molten cake with ice cream and their take on s’mores — Valrhona dark chocolate terrine with chocolate graham cracker crust and toasted marshmallows, chocolate gelato and peanut butter caramel. Red gets high marks in my book also for the elegant ambiance complete with tablecloths (another miamicurated bottom line — see “about”) and the professional and friendly service. The menu by Chef Peter Vauthy also includes special seafood and pasta dishes.  Red’s menu is complimented by a selection of over 500 wines and the cocktails are generous pours.

Pied à Terre

1701 James Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33139
(305) 531-4533

Of the Pied a Terre  I say “chapeau”, hats off. Its concept is unique, developed by Dr. Vilma Biaggi, owner of The Cadet Hotel, and Patrick Gruest. Gruest, born in Paris and raised in Lyon, spent his childhood from the age of six going to Paul Bocuse’s three star Michelin restaurant every two weeks with his parents .They invite a chef from a two or three star Michelin restaurant every four months. The visiting chef develops the menu based on local ingredients, working with the kitchen staff . Voila. The result is a menu that’s highly original but not the kind of precious cuisine you sometimes find in the starred restaurants. Here at Pied a Terre it’s about the finest quality ingredients, rich and complex flavors, high taste. The artful presentation of dishes adds to its peaceful charming ambience – the restaurant seats just 30 diners inside and another 40 in a serene outdoor garden with reflecting pool – makes it a perfect choice for a romantic evening.

Villa Azur

309 23rd St, Miami Beach, FL 33139
(305) 763-8688

Festive, chic, fun, and the food gets top marks. Villa Azur is the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion as many people seemed to be doing the night we went.  Plus, you feel transported to the French Riviera with the decor, menu, and some of the native French staff . No surprise, the owners have a very successful sister restaurant in St.Tropez. First the decor, It’s stunning.  The library is the place to be if you want to people watch  There’s also an outdoor courtyard, the most romantic spot  for literally dining under the stars. But the real attraction is the food — classic French with a nod to Mediterranean with some pasta dishes and other favorites like burrata and fried calamari. The menu is divided into appetizers, pastas, meat, fish and poultry, raw bar, side orders, sauces and desserts.

A house specialty is the cote de boeuf with foie gras. It’s carved at the table and has a “his” and “hers” bone. “Superbe”, cooked exactly to one’s taste. Or how about a dover sole “a la meuniere” or a pasta with white truffles?  For dessert they bring out the blackboard with the French greats — from coupe aux marrons with homemade chantilly (whipped cream) and tarte tatin to chocolate tart, mousse and pain perdu.  Villa Azur is both a place for a celebration and a place to celebrate that it’s here in Miami.

Hakkasan

4441 Collins Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33140
(786) 276-1388

For a change of pace and an always reliable top dining experience Hakkasan should be your choice. The chic and uberstylish decor is “haute Chinois”  with  seating areas of  romantic, welcome small spaces. Plus, though it’s very “buzzy” (and great people watching), the noise level is moderate. The food consistently makes my “best dishes of the year” list and truly whatever you order won’t disappoint.

  1. darlings….have been to all of these, other than pied a terre which I hear is all about unique presentations at hi prices, but not really delicious food…
the others are hardly romantic in my book, because romance for me is all about candelight and intimacy and quiet and none of these qualify in those categories..villa azur has a charming garden, but the interior is a disaster…food is good but not great, and it is monumentally overpriced….hakkasan is uniquely designed rather like a clever prison w outstanding fare and red is an old fashioned steak house ……a bit loud and commercial to be romantic romantic….the hi prices are worth it because it is unfailingly first quality food…..
for me, there is no place more romantic than the Raleigh, and now that Michael;s has taken it over, I expect it to be even better…inside and, especialliy outside, it is really “the moon over Miami” of yesteryear….
and as for “there is no better way to celebrate valentines day with your loved” COME ON! YOU KNOW BETTER THAN THAT, DONTCHA, TOOTS?

    1. The Raleigh is a great addition to the list now that Michael Schwartz is on board. And as for a better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day that you imply, there can be dinner and the other way too, mais oui!
