Capriotti’s In Miami: Unveiling My Favorite Sub

You may have remembered that I wrote about Capriotti’s which has my favorite sandwich in the world, an Italian submarine (“sub”). The shop started in Wilmington, Delaware where I grew up and, together with Philly and New Jersey are the epicenter of the sub world. It then spread around the country. It’s one of President Biden’s favorite sandwich shops too by the way. Thanks to Instagram I found out they have a Capriottis Miami – in Miami Gardens, and a new one in Plantation so off Mr. W and I went. And by the way,they’re offering 20% off on online delivery for my readers, so stay tuned until the end.

Capriotti’s have different iterations, but the one I get and got here is the classic Italian sub with Italian cold cuts, lettuce, tomato, pickles, peppers, oil, on a roll. It was so delicious, I ate 8 inches worth of sandwich..

Mr. W got the Wagyu Philly cheese steak with American cheese, mushrooms, onions and hot peppers which he claimed is now his favorite sandwich (after the traditional Cuban one).

The most famous though is the Bobbie aka Thanksgiving in a sandwich, which was named the best sandwich in America by AOL. It’s made of fresh turkey oven roasted here daily, cranberry sauce, mayo and stuffing. Another specialty is the capastrami with pastrami, Swiss cheese, cole slaw, and Russian dressing, And you vegetarians don’t despair, there’s an impossible cheese steak made with plant based meat or vegetarian turkey. Order a sub in a choice of sizes – half (5 inches), small (8 inches), medium (10 inches) and large (18 inches).

For those watching their weight (not sure how they’ll manage to resist the subs, but whatever), there’s a selection of salads. Kids get their own subs too. Having a party? They have party trays with an assortment of the sandwiches, or a build your own, and also box lunches with a choice of any cold sub, and do catering.. Bottom line, you won’t be lacking for choices.

There are several tables inside and service is friendly and prompt.
