The best desserts Miami 2016 started out as one blogpost but grew to three due to the stellar candidates. Read on and see for yourself. And if you missed earlier picks, click here for Part 1 and Part 2.
A creme brulee to beat any I’ve had made this list at the last minute ,thanks to a recent visit (and you’ll be reading an upcoming review). It’s the one from French dining and party spot via St. Tropez, Baoli. The difference? The oblong dish is shallow, so there’s more of that caramelized, crunchy sugar topping along with a luscious custard. And how could I forget the garnish? A macaron with a melange of fresh berries topped with mint.
Quality Meats is one of my restaurant choices for a celebration when it calls for a top of the line steak and decadent sides (like a corn creme brulee). And now, thanks to new chef Gustavo Galvao and a new dessert menu, it also scores a best dessert of the year. Called The Cake Stand, its a three in one coconut cake. The coconut layer cake is bathed in a cream cheese frosting that is then teamed up with dulce de leche sauce and spiced candied pecans. Heavenly.
New hot spot DOA is just open a few weeks but it already has a dessert to be reckoned with — its namesake fondant. The white chocolate lucuma (a Peruvian fruit) fondant is luscious, and perfectly teamed with homemade dark chocolate ice cream, so good they should sell it to go.

Don’t forget the café gourmand at Otentic (538 Washington Ave, Miami Beach). It’s 5-6 miniature samples of their regular desserts. Enough to share or just enjoy yourself with a glass of bubbly.
