Mexico’s Hermes, in Miami

Whenever I wear my costume jewelry and handbags of Pineda Covalin, often called “the Hermes of Mexico”, I can be assured of compliments. Until recently I bought their accessories in Mexico City or in their airport shops. But, unknown to many, they only have two shops in the US, and one is  in Miami, on Main Highway in Coconut Grove. It’s small and easy to miss unless you happen to be walking around the neighborhood.  I  like the jewelry, shoes and handbags the most, but they also design scarves, caftans, ties, and even eyeglass frames. Whatever, they’re  highly original,  made with quality, fanciful, colorful,  and do well for everything from casual to elegant attire. And they’re all made with silk of patterns inspired by pre-Columbian, folkloric and natural motifs, the most iconic of which are of Monarch butterflies. Few solid colors here; it’s about prints. The more conservative designs are black and white, or shades of brown, white and black (pictured here);  more likely are bright and even brighter colors. And, even better yet, their prices are reasonable especially considering the fine quality. The shop also sells the contemporary jewelry of Daniel Espinosa who is partial to turquoise, amethyst and the unusual Peruvian moonstones. Definitely worth a visit.

  1. sounds sublime….i will hurry there on your very qualified suggestion, but i need to know the address, telephone, and hours, please….thank you…..ever the fashionable, moi!

    1. To Fashionable toi, the address is 3460 Main Highway Miami, FL 33133 and the phone number is
      (305) 448-6810. And there’s a gold cuff bracelet by Daniel Espinosa that has your name on it. It’s open from 10:30 to 8:30 except for Friday and Saturday it’s open until 10. And another good thing, before or after you can have a gelato a few doors away — try the dark chocolate (as you can imagine, not lo- cal, but it’s WTC, my mantra).
