FLORIDA GRAND OPERA (FGO) PREMIERES “FRIDA” TO SOUTH FLORIDA
Multiple Dates
Florida Grand Opera (FGO) invites you to celebrate Mexican artist, Frida Kahlo, with “Frida”: an opera that fuses Broadway, musical theater, jazz and Mexican folkloric music, as it paints a portrait of Mexico’s greatest artist, her tragic life and her tragic love story. Directed and choreographed by Marco Pelle, of the New York Theatre Ballet—who directed Verdi’s Un ballo in Maschera (A Masked Ball) for the Florida Grand Opera in 2017, and served as ballet choreographer on Ryan Murphy’s Pose (FX Network)—this will be the opera’s South Florida debut. This performance of Frida will feature Colombian soprano, Catalina Cuervo, as Frida Kahlo and bass-baritone Ricardo Herrera making his Miami debut as her husband, Diego Rivera. Frida will be showcased at three different venues during the month of March: Miramar Cultural Center, Miami-Dade County Auditorium and Parker Playhouse. Schedules for each can be found here. Parking varies at each venue. Tickets for adults start at $35 and can be purchased here.
