Predictions are that leisure travel from the US will increase in double digits this year. On top of that you have a growing percentage of Asian travelers. Right now 120 million Chinese are traveling outbound . So even if the percentage doesn’t increase by much with fears of terrorism, imagine the numbers hitting the skies and sights. I’ve put together a list of travel survival tips 2016 based on a series of trips I’ve taken this year in South America and Europe which can help make for smoothe (or at least smoother) vacations. And a tip you probably didn’t know about – how to be a guest at a wedding overseas. Predictions are that leisure travel from the US will increase in double digits this year. If you haven’t been to Mykonos or it has been awhile since you’ve been there, you won’t believe what it has become. Going there for the first time, I expected the turquoise and cobalt blue waters and white washed houses (Mr.W , the artist, likened them to sugar cubes sprinkled on the arid hills) along with a buoyant club scene comparable to that of South Beach and Ibiza. I was not prepared for the high end design hotels, soignee beach clubs, post modern Greek cuisine prepared at the hands of Michelin pedigreed chefs, and very distinctive fashion you can shop for until 5 a.m.. Even if you’re not going to Greece , I thought you’d enjoy having a look at what is happening in the country’s number one tourism destination. Here’s the first post in a two part series.
What does MiamiCurated do on vacation? Check out art, fashion, design and culture where I travel (where possible with a beach break too). One of the top places to do this – Milan. Here's a photo gallery of some of the highlights.
Palm Beach is perfect. Lawns immaculate as putting greens. Flowers and trees landscaping homes that look like they’re straight out of Departures or Architectural Digest magazines. Worth Avenue with its charming European-style garden courtyards, balconies overflowing with well-tended bougainvillea and shop sales staff that look like they just walked out of a Ralph Lauren ad. And then there’s The Breakers, that’s one of the best landmark hotels in America. They said they reinvest a minimum of $25 million a year to keep it that way and that makes all the difference. With all of the craziness in the world, I felt I needed to do a weekend break close to home and light years away in feeling, so off we went for a Palm Beach staycation. If you haven’t been there in more than 6 months, you’ll notice some very welcome additions like the uber luxe Flagler Club, a hotel within a hotel, a newly renovated spa that oozes seaside sophistication, and roomy, ice cream colored wooden poolside beach bungalows for extra comfort and convenience poolside. Also, stay tuned for some finds you may not have known about.
