The Kips Bay Decorator Show House

The Kips Bay Decorator Show House, a season staple in New York City since 1973, is now in its sixth season in Palm Beach.  Sitting directly on the Intracoastal Waterway, at 3240 North Flagler Drive in West Palm Beach’s Northshore neighborhood, the Mediterranean-style home, built in 2007, highlights the design work of 21 interior designers and architects.  Open to the public through Mar. 19, the event raises money for Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club and Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County.  Each year more than15,000 visitors pass through the designer front door.

Local South Florida designers include Amanda Lindroth’s “The Great Room,” inspired by the Palazzo Brandolini in Venice, Billy Ceglia of Billy Ceglia Designs who created a loggia inspired by “all things Palm Beach,” using Brown Jordan’s Calcutta collection of monochromatic white lounges and Miami’s own Errez Design, husband and wife design duo, Ruben and Katie Gutierriez, whose vibrant and cozy Welcome Bar is an homage to Henry Flagler and the Gilded Age.

Silvana Soriano at CAMP Gallery

And while you’re in the neighborhood  check out some of the antique shops that are on 125th Street, curated.art, and also the CAMP Gallery. It has a work I would have bought had I not been redoing my kitchen. The CAMP specializes in art advisory and contemporary art with a focus on emerging and mid-career artists working in: installation, painting, photography, sculpture, textiles, and video art with a specific direction of both self and worldly reflection. They often feature works by artists from FAMA, the Fiber Artists -Miami Association which I have a soft spot for as my mother was a fiber artist.

The latest exhibition, Looking At You Looking At Me, features Miami-based artists Laetitia Adam-Rabel, Silvana Soriano, and introducing Analea Adam-Rabel. I really liked the work of Brazilian artist Soriana who incorporates textiles in her painting. The exhibit runs until March 27.
