VB from Rome is a wonderful new addition to Miami men’s boutiques. The clothes remind me of the casual sartorial elegance of George Clooney, international sophisticates, and top art gallerists. And better yet, the price tags are mostly three figures.
The clothes are from different, hand selected Italian brands including Herno, and some are the private label of Gianluca Poddighe, owner of VB. They’re all of light, fresh, natural fabrics. Think fine cotton and what they call a lighter, more loose weave ice cotton , linen, silk, cashmere and oh so light wool, perfect for Miami’s climate.
Colors are handsome neutrals that can easily be mixed and matched, ideal for traveling. Sports jackets are handmade, and alterations are a breeze with an in store Italian tailor (when was the last time you saw that!!!). Besides pants, there’s the PT line of jeans favored by Obama.
Soft and supple, beautifully made suede jackets are priced at $700, easily well into five figures in Bal Harbour. There’s a well curated selection of cotton and linen shirts with European collars including a fave, a white cotton pique model, all priced at $190. Or choose cotton and silk T’s for the same price.
The shoe style of the moment – loafers – are well represented with elegant suede ones along with oxfords by the Florentine designer Andrea Ventura for $460. And, again good for traveling, they fold for packing. They also feature a well curated selection of accessories including bracelets, pocket hankies, handpainted scarves and belts.
Want something that’s different, yet classic contemporary with a touch of cool sunglasses? Models from Bespoke Dudes of Naples fit the bill perfectly ($160). If you’re looking for a gift for a snowbird or someone in Miami that travels north, a thick cashmere cap is a very popular item for $90.
More prices – jackets range in price from$500 to $700 and pants from $200 to $280. Welcome VB. Glad to have you here!
