My Way Italian Steakhouse is a steakhouse with much welcome twists. It’s billed as an Italian steakhouse but not only because of what you’d think — its regional Italian dishes. There’s a large locker displaying the cuts of dry aged prime beef at the entrance along with a wood burning oven dishing up delicious house made focaccia and tiramisu, along with pizza, pastas,  and more. “Italian” also stands for the restaurant being inspired by Frank Sinatra, whose parents hailed from Genoa and Sicily. Find some of his favorite dishes and the crooner’s songs in the background, including arguably his most famous “My Way”. It’s also a rare kind of restaurant in the Magic City with its white starched tablecloths but no glitz, low level music,  super friendly and low key professional staff who go out of their way to please, and the comfortable vibe. We went to celebrate Mr. W’s birthday and returned with the family a few weeks later and liked it even more.

The menu is large  and the portions well sized, divided into cold antipasti,  hot antipasti,  soups,  salads, pasta, entrees,  bistecca (steaks), pesce, raw bar, seafood tower and dessert. A separate pizza menu features 9 selections priced from $14 to $20.

As soon as you sit down they deliver some of their warm house made focaccia that is so delicious there’s no need to dip it into olive oil. We started with the carpaccio of branzino. It was very fresh and expertly seasoned with lemon, Dijon mustard, arugula and thin slices of red onion ($26). Next up, a Caesar salad prepared tableside, a lost flourish they happily revived.

Pizza stars here, and one we really enjoyed was the carbonara which really tasted like spaghetti carbonara, my favorite pasta. Speaking of pastas, if you like shellfish opt for the seafood pasta frutta di mare ( $39) perfectly al dente, loaded with mussels, large clams, shrimp that were all very fresh.

Mr. K as he’s known, the meat expert who hails from Turkey, has worked in top spots from Dubai to New York, including with Salt Bae. He personally served the Bistecca a la Fiorentina, a black Angus dry aged porterhouse steak ($65). He brought it out on a large platter which reminded us of the way they serve it in the New York temple of steakhouses, Peter Lugar, tender and sizzling. He scooped up the natural juices and poured them over the steak.  Other steak selections include a tomahawk long bone ribeye, dry aged New York sirloin and dry aged filet mignon along with grilled lamb chops. We accompanied the steak with a baked potato that was double baked which made for a crispy skin, the only way to do it! ($8).

This being a restaurant in honor of Frank Sinatra we had to try his favorite dish, the veal milanese. Tender veal cutlet was lightly breaded and expertly fried, and topped with a salad of arugula and sliced tomato ($52). I can see why it was a favorite of his.

There’s also a wide selection of seafood and shellfish, either served separately or in pasta including seafood towers and a variety of solid choices for vegetarians and those requiring gluten free dishes. Desserts are traditional Italian favorites along with gelato.

Cocktail lovers should try “The Sinatra” that’s mezcal mixed with lime, simple syrup, grape juice and soda ($14-$15). A glass of wine (6 ounce pour) starts at $14 and bottles at $45. The wine list boasts 500 bottles.

My Way Italian Steakhouse is open for dinner seven nights a week with an ample free parking lot in front. My Way Italian Steakhouse, 16145 Biscayne Blvd., North Miami Beach.
