Prima Classe Italian Market & Cafe

A new real find, Italian market and cafe,  Fendi Caffe,  Asian night bazaar with entertainment at The Setai Miami, more dining experiences and light bites in Eating News Part 2. In case you missed Part 1, click here.

One of the best if not the best Italian cafes in Miami has to be Prima Classe in South Beach. The quality of the products is first rate, the staff is friendly, and the whole thing about it is pleasant. Plus, it has a gourmet food and wine market with packaged products along with a selection of proscuitto (my picky Italian friend said it’s the best she has had in Miami), salami and cheeses. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, a menu that includes salads, panini, pastas and dolci (sweets). We enjoyed a crusty multi-grain panino with salami, stracchino cheese and arugula that was served warm and a bresaola, arugula and parmigiana salad. Both were delicious, topped off with a machiatto that transported me to Italy. There are several tables indoors and several umbrella topped tables outdoors. 842 1st Street.

Not to be outdone by Baccarat’s B Bar and Lounge, Fendi has opened a Cafe in the Miami Design District. The  FENDI CAFFÈ  includes a fusion of local and Italian favorite breakfast and lunch items, as well as beverages including a signature FF logo cappuccino served in porcelain cups decorated with FENDI’s signature Pequin striped motif. An evening Aperitivo menu is also offered. Sweet and savory bites include special FF logo toast and paninis, as well as a variety of pastries and baked goods in special FENDI packaging. It’s open Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday until 6 p.m. 160 N.E. 40th Street.

If you’ve been thinking about how so many New York restaurateurs are opening in Miami, you’re right according to the Wall Street Journal. In an article entitled “Miami Offers Taste of Opportunity”, it detailed how dozens of upscale restaurants from Manhattan or Brooklyn have opened or announced plans to open. Leading the pack seems to be Major Food Group known here for Carbone, who said they expect to have up to 20 restaurants in the Miami area by 2022!

Dragon ceviche at The Bazaar by Jose Andres

Famous chef and philanthropist Jose Andres has brought back his El Menu de Clasicos, most popular dishes at the Bazaar by Jose Andres in the SLS South Beach – from Neptune’s Tuna Pillows and Bao con Lechón to Cuban Coffee Rubbed Churrasco and Key Lime Pie, José’s Way. The menu is available from Sunday through Wednesday and costs $65 per person. 1701 Collins Avenue.

Wayku

Wayku, which you may have remembered is one of my faves this year (for my review, click here), is now open for Sunday brunch 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.. The cuisine is described as Latin fusion rooted in Andean culture with flavors from around the globe.  Besides their signature dishes at dinner like the sea bass, braised short rib and kanka cauliflower, they have enticing brunch specials including red salmon bagel with plant based cashew cheese & wild arugula -radish pickle & spring onion and skirt steak and eggs. Reservations are strongly recommended. 73 NW 26th St, Miami | (786) 584-8487 |waykurestaurants.com

Vegan restaurants just got a big boost with chef Daniel Humm of the celebrated Eleven Madison Park in New York City making the decision to go all vegan. The fine-dining restaurant will reopen on June 10 with a meatless menu.
