New restaurants, a cool rooftop bar, doughnut import from Portland,  and even a bluefin tuna cutting ceremony with six course dinner experience, all in Eating News in Miami for March, 2026.

Tokyo’s acclaimed Oniku Karyu, a Michelin one-star restaurant celebrated for its elegant wagyu kaiseki, has made its US debut with  KARYU in Miami. Led by Chef Haruka Katayanagi and created in partnership with Spicy Hospitality Group, KARYU is well known in Tokyo for its elevated interpretation of kaiseki, Japan’s refined multi-course culinary tradition, especially wagyu. From Ueda Chikusan, a family-run, full-cycle Japanese cattle ranch located in the scenic mountains of Hyōgo Prefecture. KARYU is the only restaurant in the U.S. to feature wagyu from this farm. The ranch is dedicated exclusively to breeding and raising Tajimaguro cattle, the purest lineage of Japan’s famed Tajima-gyu, from which Kobe beef also descends. With only a limited number of animals raised each month, Tajimaguro is considered among the most exclusive wagyu in Japan.

Each course at KARYU showcases premium Tajimaguro through both traditional and modern expressions. The initial opening menu includes:

  • Nikusui – a delicate beef broth that awakens the palate with clarity and umami
  • Beef Cutlet Sandwich – a playful take on the classic, featuring a Kobe beef tenderloin
  • KARYU “Taco” Tribute – lettuce in place of a tortilla, layered with shiso, aged Gruyère, and lightly seasoned raw egg yolk, mixed tableside as part of the chef’s live presentation
  • Chateaubriand – an elevated expression of Tajimaguro’s tenderness and depth
  • Traditional Sukiyaki – served with Japanese white rice, raw egg yolk mixed in front of the guest, and miso soup
  • Tantanmen – a sesame-based broth with noodles nestled beneath the surface, finished with aromatic vegetables
  • Seasonal Kakigori – a shaved ice dessert that honors Japan’s micro-seasons

Designed by the architecture and design firm Rockwell Group, the intimate 12-seat space blends traditional Japanese craftsmanship with a modern architectural sensibility. Guests enter through a warm white-oak façade and pass layers of linen scrim and softly illuminated parasol-inspired fabric, creating a sense of ceremony that mirrors the omakase experience and leads into the sake room, where an illuminated bottle display and an ikebana-inspired botanical installation introduce the artistry to come before guiding guests toward the chef’s table.KARYU 40 NE 41st Street ,Miami, Florida 33137

Crispy Dubai Burger at The Birra Bar

My next splurge will surely be on the Crispy Dubai Burger at La Birra Bar which sounds like it’s definitely WTC (worth the calories).

Naomi’s Garden Alton Road

Bringing the soulful flavors of Little Haiti to the coast, the new Naomi’s Garden in Miami Beach marks a new chapter for the family-run restaurant. Nestled within the Syndicate Kava Bar on Alton Road, this second location swaps the sprawling, rooster-patrolled patio of the original for a sleek, modern setting designed to introduce Haitian cuisine to a broader audience. While the core menu remains rooted in authentic comfort—featuring staples like curried goat, fried snapper, and tender oxtail—the brothers Noam and Omaar Yemini have introduced “gateway” items like jerk chicken tacos and wraps to welcome the uninitiated. Despite its upscale Miami Beach zip code, the restaurant stays true to its mission of accessibility, offering hearty, traditional plates at price points that are increasingly rare on the Beach, ensuring that the legacy of their grandmother Naomi remains a place for “the common person” to find a world-class meal.  Address: 1755 Alton Rd,Miami Beach, FL

The owners of what they’re touting as the first upscale Cuban restaurant in West Palm Beach, Emelina, have an impressive pedigree: Osmel Gonzalez and his wife Colombian born chef Camila Salazar, formerly of EntreNos, in collaboration with restaurateur and art dealer Alvaro Perez Miranda known for his Michelin-starred restaurant Ogawa in Little River as well as Hiyakawa in Wynwood and the more casual Midorie locations. Emelina features a 12-seat chef’s counter, with two two-top tables to the side. There are two seatings each night, serving a chef’s choice tasting menu. The menu is about using familiar Cuban flavors in more modern ways.
