Pivot Mkt, billed as the first all inclusive marketplace in Miami to exclusively house sustainable brands, has opened with over 30 brands from fashion, beauty, home and décor. Products are for men, women and children. The 7,200 square foot space in The Citadel in the Little River District also has a sustainable beauty bar and learning center with instruction and “hands on” activities. Coming up October 5, a workshop in making your own lipstick and candles. In other news, the Nu-Deco Ensemble which is one of my favorite cultural offerings in Miami, has announced The Citadel will be its new home base this fall season with the first concert October 11 (see my writeup here).

The Market is the third phase of The Citadel which is an all day dining, entertainment and shopping destination . It joins the food hall and rooftop lounge with live music.

Fashion designers brought to mind Etsy, artisanal production with an important difference — the commitment to sustainability and social change. Miami designers are heavily represented, but there are also representatives from everywhere from Australia and Africa to Central and South America.

Represented brands that caught my eye include Samba Sol, Inspiration Design, Tres Hilos, Turmalina y Durando, and El Dorado Art and Claudia Gontovnik whom I wrote about earlier. Price point is from $28 to $500 so it’s designed to be accessible. More shops will be coming by November.

One of my favorite features is the Beauty Bar. In another innovation,at the Sustainable Beauty Bar consumers can try on and shop from plant-based, non-toxic body care products with names like B.S. The market will also host a learning center dedicated to educating visitors on sustainability practices, with workshops on topics like how to identify sustainable and bio products.

Not surprising, recycling is a major theme, with an area devoted to different products including Deadstock, fabrics that are designed to be repurposed into new fashions.

Pivot Mkt is inside The Citadel which is located at 8300 NE Second Avenue in Miami’s historic Little River District in the Little Haiti neighborhood. The Market is open all week from Noon; Monday through Thursday to 8 p.m. and Friday and Saturday until 9 pm; Sunday until 6 p.m. There’s free parking in the back.

I absolutely love Pivot Market! What a wonderful concept and the owners are so great and really care about the vendors. Can’t wait to visit again.
Good afternoon, I would like to know the phone number to Pivot Market. Also the hours on the website seem kind of odd. What are the hours?
I don’t have their phone number and it isn’t on the website as you probably saw. I like the market but the operation has been a little spotty and hours seem to change. I wrote to them and hopefully will get an answer and will reply back either way.
I heard back from then about the hours: Our hours of operation are:
WED: 12 – 6:30 pm
THU to SUN: 12 – 9 pm
No word on their phone number though I asked them again. If/when I hear from them, I’ll let you know.
