Wondering about swimwear fashion styles for 2021? Last week Paraiso Miami Beach Swim Week 2020 gave us a look at what’s in store with a combination of virtual and in-person fashion shows with international designers. My favorite styles hands down for men and women were from Colombian brand Maaji’s Sacred Fauna collection Spring 2021. There was also an intriguing entry with avatars and virtual fashion show from Lavie by CK of the Cameroon. Check them out below. For more designer collections previewed at the show, look for the link at the end.
You’ll see that most of the styles are one piece because I found them most original and exciting. Maaji also has a number of selections for Plus sizes.
The spring 2021 collection, Sacred Fauna, is described as a celebration of diversity.” Where things are getting wild! The world is a jungle and Maaji is about to conquer it.”
To celebrate the world’s jungle wonders, Maaji’s Sacred Fauna collection goes back in time, entering a Sacred Fauna full of diversity, colors, and mystical animals.
The designs are inspired by nature, the jungle, and its unique animals, a tribe that takes care of the sacred fauna.
The Maaji collection will be in retail shops or sold online in November. For a list of stores, click here.
The most unusual and intriguing of Paraiso Miami Beach Swim Week 2020 as mentioned above was the Lavie by CK collection by Claude from Cameroon. Claude puts a modern spin on traditional African fabrics with unique prints and colors for a bold finish. The 12 styles also specifically cater to all body and skin types.
Lavie by CK has made waves as a black designer in just the past year. Recently, Amanda Seales, host of the BET Awards, wore a custom Lavie by CK gown. Claude’s pieces have also been seen on top celebrities such as Tracee Ellis Ross and Janet Jackson. Lavie by CK was just named by Women’s Wear Daily (WWD) as one of the most influential black designer to watch this year.
