A welcome new destination for a night out or a nightcap is Art Deco gem The National Hotel with its wonderful Blues Bar. Wednesday through Sunday evenings from 8:30 to 12:30,  the lobby hums with LIVE! at the National, the jazz sounds of David Attelan and The Magic Vocals.  Attelan, an award-winning composer, has produced, composed or arranged for musicals such as “Le Sel et le Miel,” “Fiddler on The Roof,” “Piaf,” and “Grease,” His band entertains with Attelan on the piano accompanied by a guitarist, saxophone player and singer with a range of favorites from jazz, blues, and pop to Broadway. There’s some of the 40’s glamour along with comfortable chairs, tables for 2 and 4,  and an area that’s at once spacious yet intimate. Light bites are served from the hotel’s Tamara restaurant. No minimum or cover charge.  The group also performs at Sunday brunch buffet with omelet station, a good value at a price of $39 per person plus tax and gratuity.  Brunch is served 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Reservations can be made by calling (305) 532-2311 or by visiting http://nationalhotel.com/tamara/. The National Hotel, 1677 Collins Avenue.
