It's happening. Miami Worldcenter in downtown, and it makes for a delightful afternoon filled with world class public art you can self tour with the map I provided and description of the art works. While not everything is open yet, you can also spend the afternoon  doing some shopping at places that are new to Miami like the new Savage X Fenty, located at 851 NE 1st Avenue, Unit D-138, the brand’s first Miami location of the pop singer Rhianna’s lingerie and apparel brand. After, stop in for lunch or dinner at one of the restaurants that are also a "first" in Miami such as the Brasserie Laurel, located at 698 NE 1st Avenue. See below for a list of all the shops, restaurants, opening dates and other things to do in Miami Worldcenter. Valet parking is available for $12 for the first 3 hours.
Perhaps you don’t remember the first time you visited the City of Aventura, but it was probably to shop at the famous Aventura Mall, right? No doubt, this is one of the most important shopping centers in the country, but this small city, covering just 3.5 square miles, is much more than just a shopping destination. Here are some places to explore and things to do in Aventura for a special outing.
How to choose what dance company, music,  or theater performance, or art exhibit to see in Miami? Happily, there  are lots to choose from – in theater alone, 23 theater companies! I thought you might find a list of the ones selected for awards by the Funding Arts Network (FAN), a leading non-profit organization, helpful in your planning for the upcoming 2024-2025 season. The list is of the visual and performing arts groups and their works that received a grant award. See below the works of winners by category, and at the end you can read more about FAN, of which I’m proud to be a member.
For sure, Little Havana is well known as a tourist attraction in Miami, but if you haven't been there in awhile, you're missing some of the new restaurants, bars and shops that have opened. I thought it was time to get a tourism pro who knows not only what's new, but also, the history of the area, some of which came as a surprise to me (as in some of the first residents were from Greece and Syria). So here you have it, a Day in Little Havana, newest in my series - Karen
We felt like we were transported to Cuba when we went to Kuba Cabana Miami, the seriously fun restaurant and cabaret at City Place in Doral. A classic red car serving as a bar at the entrance, the vibrant Latin music and entertainment set the tone. The wildly colorful décor with fluorescent lights, lush greenery, abundant reds and turquoise, and an infectious energy made the ambiance memorable. The Latin-inspired menu, with a special nod to Cuban cuisine, added to the experience. We went on a Sunday night, for their monthly special three hour Kubaret show,  which was a perfect coda to the weekend. Friday and Saturday nights are Latin nights with other entertainment.  Note there's another Kuba Cabana in Bayside marketplace.
