It’s that time of year, the start of the season for Miami Farmers Markets and home grown produce. Just in time, too, for the holidays.   With a large selection of farms to choose from, you can try a different one each weekend.  Many offer on-line ordering and delivery options.  Check each website for details.

In line with this philosophy, they run Farmers Markets Miami, plant gardens with low-income families, and support many local farms by bringing their produce to market.

You can regularly find them at Legion Park in the Mimo District and Saturdays at Legion Park & at Ludlam Trail Farmers Market (at The Thorn, 6976 SW 40th St.) and at Vizcaya Village on Sunday mornings. They’re packing up fresh, local produce a few times a week via an online ordering form on their website.

Join them for their Monthly Vizcaya Night Market featuring arts, clothes, jewelry, etc., as well as fresh produce and hot food.  Thursdays, 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. (Nov. 21 & Dec. 19)

Order online. The store is open Wednesday 9 a.m. to Thursday 11 p.m. for weekend pickups and Saturday deliveries.

Locations: Deliveries only in Miami-Dade on Saturdays for a $10 fee, SNAP deliveries free.Saturday deliveries are from 11 -3 p.m. Market hours: 9- 2 p.m

Redland Fresh Farm (formerly, Redland Community Farm & Market)  

Redland Fresh Farm, located in the heart of the Redland area at 15201 SW 216th St., in Miami, is an organic farm dedicated to growing fresh local healthy produce. The warm climate and rich soil create the perfect growing conditions for their crops, such as tomatoes, lettuce and a wide variety of fruits and vegetables.

The Farm is known for their fresh produce. They sell a laundry list of fresh fruit and vegetables including several varieties of squash and tomatoes, onions, peppers, carrots, green beans, starfruit, mango, banana and much more.

Michael Borek Farms

 

Michael Borek Farms 

 

Michael Borek Farms is a third-generation farm that grows heirloom tomatoes, produce, fresh herbs, and greens from November to May. Order online for pre-packaged mixed produce boxes in small, medium or large. They also have a large variety of heirloom and vine ripened tomatoes in all colors and sizes, as well as 23 herbs and lettuces and 26 varieties of vegetables. Open Saturdays 10 – 4:00 p.m. You can order on-line and pick up at the farm.

NOTE:  Heirloom tomato season begins end of December.  Check IG for updates.

Bringing a piece of country to Miami – The Berry Farm, is a third-generation, family-owned and operated farm in The Redlands.

With more than juicy strawberries, The Berry Farm also has plenty of other local fruits and vegetables. Think eggplant, tomatoes, beans, lettuces, peppers, corn, potatoes and onions. They offer veggie boxes with a mixed assortment both individually and by subscription as well as delivery. They also offer a menu – brought to you by your neighborhood farmer – with burgers ($15) and sandwiches, such as a chicken Caesar wrap ($15)  milkshakes in a Mason jar ($12) and ice cream novelties, such as a Brownie Sundae ($7.50) or Belgian waffle with ice cream ($8). Operating for more than 60 years, it is an institution in Miami’s farming community. Open Monday through Thursday 10-6:30 and Friday through Sunday 9-7:00 pm.

A no-till farm, they use natural practices and no chemicals to grow produce and flowers using regenerative practices.

They raise and process animals in a humane way without antibiotics or hormones. Depending on the season. you can find a variety of organic produce from different varieties of vegetables such as peppers, tomatoes, squash, greens, etc. to tropical fruits such as longans, starfruit, jackfruit and more

Their availability list changes regularly so direct message them on Instagram to get the latest info. They usually have collards, broccoli, ginger, scotch bonnet peppers and other varieties, cucumbers and eggplants.

Little River Cooperative

This multi-farm CSA, plant nursery and garden installation company, the Little River Cooperative, manages an urban farm and an edible plant nursery in North Miami.

Their female led team of farmers, growers and educators, (they call themselves “Plant Nerds”) focuses on sharing their love of plants with the community.  They teach people how to grow and garden in the South Florida tropical climate.

Their plant nursery grows and sources high quality vegetable, tropical fruit, culinary herb and spice plants for Miami residents for more than 10 years.

They will ship their tropical plants throughout the U.S., but check with them first to make sure it is within their shipping season.  Next season begins in April 2025.

Visit them every Saturday and Sunday from 10 – 5pm.

From November – April they also set up shop at the Legion Park Farmers Market, 6601 Biscayne Blvd., Miami, FL  33138.

Finishing up the picks for Miami Farmers Markets: Located in South Beach in the Triangle Park (Alton Rd. and 1st Street), the market features a variety of organic, vegetarian and vegan specialties, as well as locally grown fruit and produce and other specialty foods such as artisan breads and pastries.

Open Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. during the winter season. Closed in the summer.

(Note from Karen: This is one of my favorite Miami Farmers Markets considering the quality and prices of the produce and things to do and see . I go and make it an afternoon ) Family owned and operated, the Redland Market Village, Inc. has been family owned and operated since 1987. With an indoor farmer’s market, plant nursery, fish market and an outdoor flea market, the venue spans 27 acres and offers numerous eateries as well as live entertainment.

You can find tomatoes, great greens, carrots, peppers, starfruit and lychees as well as ethnic ingredients at the farmer’s market.  The flea market offers both new and used items such as jewelry, clothing and health and beauty products.

You never know – you just might find the perfect pair of cowboy boots!  Bring your negotiation skills to get a good price.

Other on-site services include a kid zone, automotive supplies and a pet shop offering birds, fish, reptiles, amphibians as well as pet supplies.

Farmer’s Market Thursday to Friday, 11 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Flea Market and Farmer’s Market Saturdays and Sundays 7 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
