Chip City Cookies

Leading off the best desserts in Miami — There are a lot of cookie places these days but OMG the ones at Chip City Miami are really, really delicious and a very varied lot. NYC’s fastest-growing gourmet cookie chain  made their South Florida debut last year with their Miami Beach location, and now their newest is in Mimo.

While Chip City rotates more than forty unique flavors every year, such as Peanut Butter & Jelly, the Everything Cookie, Oatmeal Apple Pie, Blueberry Cheesecake, S’Mores, Lemon Berry, and the Cannoli Cookie, each week the menu changes to offer classic flavors, seasonal varieties and always offers dairy free options.

One of the things I like the most is that there are not only all the different delicious flavors (loved the macadamia nut and S’Mores in particular), but also, a Thin Chip, a cinnamon roll cookie and a chip crookie,  flaky croissant stuffed with cookie dough and baked to perfection). Chip City Cookies, 7285 Biscayne Boulevard and 1935 West Avenue. They’re open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Salty Flame on Brickell Avenue has launched a Bubbly Brunch teaming up an emphasis on champagne cocktails and bubbly by the glass with its delicious fare combining  a playful take on a traditional American steakhouse, together with a contemporary favorite, Asian influenced dishes. Besides its popular favorites of delicious salads and bowls, 8 ounce flavorful steaks in various cuts and cooked in a coal fired Josper oven,  tangy Korean fried chicken, dumplings and sushi, it has brunch items that have Asian twists.

Think bao bun filled with  thick cut Nueskes bacon, poached egg, Swiss cheese and spicy mayo; Thai overnight take on breakfast cereal of Thai tea oats, ube cream, roasted almonds and sliced bananas; and tuna crispy toast that’s crispy sushi rice, yellowfin tuna, yuzu avocado puree, kimchi cucumbers, cherry tomato, radish and micro shiso.  Plus it ticks off all the other right categories: friendly and attentive service, an attractive ambiance, loungey music but easy conversation, and value. Speaking of good value, the champagne cocktails are $12 and a glass of Moet et Chandon Imperial is $22 or $69 a bottle, half price. Brunch is offered Sundays from 11:30 a.m. to 4p.m.
