Bagel Emporium

Bagel Emporium

Nothing speaks more to the soul of breakfast foods than a toasted bagel and coffee, and Bagel Emporium has exactly that and more (note from Karen: For my tastes it has the best bagels in Miami). Located in Coral Gables, this classic kosher deli offers up a wide variety of breakfast items. While one can order any breakfast sandwich on a bagel, from bacon, egg and cheese to lox and cream cheese, the options extend much further beyond. There’s different selections of egg dishes, such as matzo brie or eggs benedict, as well as pancakes, French toast, waffles, four-egg omelettes, and various vegetarian options. Breakfast is served from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bagel Emporium & Grille, 1238 Dixie Hwy, Coral Gables, FL 33146 (T. 305-666-9519).

B Bakery + Bistro

B Bakery + Bistro uses global inspiration in all of their dishes, serving up an elegant weekday breakfast menu. Offered from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday – Friday, one can enjoy upscale breakfast selections to kick-start their day. Try the Croque Madame, a classic French dish, or the pastelito pancakes served with cream cheese mousse and guava preserve, a Cuban flavor combination that’s popular in Miami. Their baked goods section also offers up a fine selection of sweet and savory morning treats such as the everything cream cheese croissant, cruffins – a combination of a muffin and a croissant – muffins and varied pastries. The restaurant is walk-ins only and does not accept reservations. B Bistro + Bakery, 600 Brickell Ave. Miami FL, 33131 (T. 305-330-6310).

Greenstreet Cafe

Greenstreet Café

At Greenstreet, you’ll often find the place packed, sometimes with waits for a table. It’s the “go to” place in The Grove.  The portion sizes and plating are just as big as their reputation. The breakfast menu features five different categories of main meal: French toasts, pancakes, omelettes, egg dishes, and continental breakfasts for something on the lighter side. It’s the creative dishes that stand out the most though, such as the cinnamon roll pancakes, Nutella filled French toast, and the Jerk seasonedegg scramble. What’s interesting to note is that their morning drink menu contains more options than their food with cocktails, coffee selections – both iced and hot – and fresh juices and smoothies. Breakfast is served from 7:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Greenstreet Café, 3468 Main Hwy, Maimi, FL 33133 (T. 305-444-0244).

Zak Bakery

Zak the Baker Bakery and Café

This popular breakfast spot in Wynwood serves their dishes on arguably the best breads in Miami, handmade and naturally leavened. Kosher certified, this café has light dishes such as avocado toast, quiche served with salad, and a breakfast sandwich on homemade sourdough multigrain bread. Bagels and platters of whitefish, tuna, and nova salmon also round out some of the breakfast choices alongside small plates of pastries, parfaits and, of course, more handmade bread. Finish off your morning with one of Zak’s coffees, teas, or fresh juices. Open Sunday – Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Zak the Baker Bakery and Café, 295 NW 26th St. Miami, FL 33127 (T. 786-294-0876).

Daily creative Food Company

Daily Creative Food Co.

Aptly named, the Daily Creative Food Co. not only has a creative menu, but also, the decor. The restaurant is newspaper themed, with newspaper designs covering the tables and coffee cups, and cartoon strips and subway tiles covering the walls. There’s flair in the menu as well, with the fun names they give the dishes. The Miami Vice is a Cuban themed egg hash. The Elvis is a sweet sandwich named after the singer featuring his favorite combination of banana, peanut butter and bacon, and the Tony Montana is a spicy chorizo fried rice topped with two sunny side up eggs. Their breakfast menu contains  sandwiches, egg wraps, pancakes and more. Breakfast is served weekdays from 7 – 11 a.m. and until 2 p.m. on weekends. Rolls from Majestic Bakehouse

Find the best ever roll at Majestic Bakehouse on Coral Way. It’s super crusty on the outside and chewy and fluffy inside. Believe me, when you have a bite, the roll won’t make it home. I buy six at a time and freeze them. Delicious toasted too.

Prefer brunch instead? Here’s a link to my roundup of the best brunches in Miami.

  1. The Nutella croissants at B Bakery and Bistro are to die for! They normally sell out by 10am. Delish

  2. Hello,
Have you tried the delicous Turkish breakfast at Upper Buena Vista at El Turco Turkish Foods? So lovely in the garden and lucious baked breads, turkish pizza and cheeses, olives and fragrant Turkish coffee!

Thanks for all your wonderful suggestions!

  3. No no no, these are not the best breakfast places in Miami. They might be decent but not the best. Born and raised in Miami and hadn’t even heard of most of these. What a shame.
