Best desserts Miami Part 2, more of the sweet goodness. And if you missed Part 1, click here. Stay tuned for Part 3.
A Miami twist on a molten lava cake makes the list of best desserts in Miami with Quinta La Huella’s molten dulce de leche cake served with banana ice cream. Bring it on!
Honeybee donuts. If you like yeasty, chewy donuts with frosting that tastes homemade, this is the place. They’re not like some varieties that seem to evaporate in one mouthful. Besides the contemporary classics like powdered sugar, strawberry with white chocolate, cinnamon sugar and buttermilk glazed, there are the fanciful varieties that are much in vogue these days. Think fruity pebbles with colored rice krispies, dulce de leche with toasted almond, and raspberry coulis with fresh fruit. There are also seasonal choices.

The coconut cake at KYU has helped put this Wynwood spot on the map for good reason. I make (or used to make) old fashioned American layer cakes, especially coconut, and this several layer cake tastes homemade (or like the one you get at Magnolia bakery in New York City). The vanilla cake is moist and just sweet enough. There’s cream cheese in the frosting and coconut shavings on top, plus it’s served with coconut ice cream on the side.

Dolcevita in Coconut Grove will have you transported to Italy enjoying a gelato and basking in the Mediterranean sun. The toughest thing will be choosing which chocolate gelato you want — dark, Swiss, white, Oreo cookie, chocolate mousse and more. Whichever you choose, you’ll find a deep rich flavor and a dense, creamy consistency. It’s $5 for a cup, but worth every penny. Branches in South Beach and Aventura too.

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Bachour Bakery and Bistro that shines in all matter of French pastry and cakes, from morning pastries (especially the nutella croissant) and petit gateaux (small cakes), to layered verrines, and tarts.

And it’s not Miami, but here’s a final dessert that deserves a special Karen’s Kudo from the Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit. Check out the video!
