More Things to Do in Miami in February

An exceptional exhibit is on now at the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum –Field of Dreams is a solo exhibition featuring new and recent works by African artist Billie Zangewa. Across her body of work, Zangewa creates intricate collages composed of hand-stitched fragments of raw silk. Her use of this material speaks to the transformative nature of the work itself. Silk, as the “leftovers” of the chrysalis process, is a material created through transformation; it’s what remains and is illustrative of Billie Zangewa’s creative process of metamorphosing life’s challenges and complex emotions into art. Both the artist and the material share the process of transformation. The exhibit runs until April 13, 2025. It was funded in part by a grant from the Funding Arts Network. Take Care with Peanuts at the Miami Children’s Museum —Miami Children’s Museum announces a partnership with Peanuts Worldwide LLC to create a brand-new traveling hands-on exhibit that will premiere at the Miami Children’s Museum in February 2025 in conjunction with Peanuts 75th Anniversary.

The new experience will pay tribute to the iconic comic strip created by Charles M. Schulz. Based on Peanuts’ global initiative of the same name, which promotes caring for yourself, each other, and the Earth, “Take Care with Peanuts” is a new traveling children’s exhibit designed by the Miami Children’s Museum. This interactive and educational space will live at the museum for six months and promote the values that served as central themes for the comics – friendship, empathy, and self-care.

Each main character will have a dedicated section highlighting their unique interests, values, and personality traits. Kid-sized character displays will be incorporated, complete with featured comic snippets. Additionally, in line with the experience’s message of environmental stewardship, it will use sustainable materials throughout its design to reinforce the importance of caring for our planet.

“We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Peanuts to bring ‘Take Care with Peanuts’ to our beloved museum. This brand-new interactive exhibit is not only a celebration of the timeless and cherished Peanuts comic strip but also a celebration of the values that are fundamental to the development and wellbeing of our children,” said Deborah Spiegelman, CEO of the Miami Children’s Museum. “We will design each section to resonate with the unique personalities and values of the iconic Peanuts characters, providing an interactive space where children can learn, explore, and grow while embracing the importance of taking care of themselves, others, and our precious planet.”
