Yet another cool offering from the Miami Children’s Museum

Congrats to the Miami Children’s Museum (MCM) that continues to come up with fun new interactive exhibits for families. The latest is the debut of its brand-new Playful Putters mini golf course with a range of  hands on activities to match.

Families are invited to design a mini golf course in a box, customize their own golf ball, and put their creativity into action on the course. This interactive mini golf experience is designed to blend creativity, physical activity, and family fun.

Beyond putting, the museum will host hands-on activities, including:

  • Design Your Own Course: A “mini golf in a box” crafting station where kids can engineer their own imaginative holes to take home.
  • Customize Your Ball: A chance for young golfers to personalize their very own golf ball before taking on the course.
  • The new Playful Putters course will remain open to the public as a permanent exhibit, offering a new attraction for visitors.

Here’s a different kind of movie –Poetry City – a Cinematic Love Letter to Miami’s Literary Soul that will premiere at the Miami Film Festival April 18 at 5:30 p.m.

Directed by Aaron Glickman, Poetry City offers an intimate and sweeping exploration of Miami-Dade County’s literary landscape. Also known as the Biscayne Poet,  Oscar Fuentes serves as a guide into a community that is often overshadowed by parties, loud music and bright lights to reveal a bubbling underside of ideas and meaning. For thirty years Fuentes, with his manual typewriter, has been seen all over town writing poems that capture Miami in words and rhythm, and that offer insight and illumination into the city beyond its perceived glamor.

Poetry City, the  film captures a multi-faceted view of Miami’s poetry scene.

From intimate interviews, readings and performances by several of Miami’s poets-  Caridad Moro-Gronlier, 2024-25 Miami-Dade County Poet Laureate; Richard Blanco, Miami-Dade County first Poet Laureate and Presidential Inaugural Poet; Mitchell Kaplan, owner, Books & Books and co-founder with Dr. Eduardo Padrón of Miami Book Fair; Nicole Tallman, Miami-Dade County Poetry Ambassador; Campbell McGrath, Pulitzer Prize finalist and MacArthur Fellow; performance and spoken word artists Arsimmer McCoy and Darius Daughtry, among many others- the film also captures the coming together of poets at a community-wide photoshoot, a vivid conversation between poets, a celebration.

Poetry City, a film by Aaron Glickman. Executive Producer Lisa B. Palley and producers Meme Ferré and Alec Jerome Kreisberg.
