Azulu Colombian Fashion Now in Miami

Yours truly with my Azulu mesh top and handbag from Adriana Castro

Thanks to Latin American designers from Colombia and Brazil to Venezuela, Peru and Argentina, Miami has a unique and wonderful fashion scene in the US. That’s in everything from clothing and jewelry to handbags, mostly for women, but also for men. And now there’s a welcome new entry on the scene, Azulu from Colombia, that has fashion and accessories for women and men. It’s resort wear that works for day, the beach, and a night out, in fabrics perfect for South Florida. Azulu Miami recently opened two shops, one in Brickell City Centre and the other in Aventura, riding on their success in twenty countries worldwide.

Azulu Miami’s  women’s fashions have a Latin sensibility – they’re feminine, colorful,  and flirty. The cotton, linen, silk and mesh fabrics are sourced worldwide, and then made in small family run factories in Colombia.

What caught my eye were the details – the fringes, eyelet lace, embroidery, ruching.

Find styles like flowing maxi dresses with bodice ties, stylish linen shorts with a touch of gilded braid, bustier tops with puffy sleeves, handsome bathing suits and slinky silk dresses with fringed bottoms.

For men, offerings include shirts, bathing suits, hoodies and pants, sold in the store in Aventura, and women’s clothes in both stores. Clothes are priced from $250 up to $580.

Azulu is the creation of a young power couple whose pedigree includes Stella McCartney and Catherine Malandrino. They met working for Ralph Lauren and do the creative direction and direct the business which they own.

Accessories are featured from six other Colombian designers – earrings from several designers;  attractive handbags in silk, python and fine leather ;

and a select capsule shoe collection of leather heels and flats from Jessi Caballero ($190)

The staff in the Brickell City Centre store is delightful, and sure know how to pick the music. I was almost dancing in the aisles, remembering my days living in Bogota.

Alex also owns St.Dom which might have caught your eye on Instagram. It’s an online department store featuring different Colombian designers.

Azulu Miami fashions can also be found at their own site online and online at Saks Fifth Avenue, Shopbop and Intermix.
