Painting With a Twist – www.paintingwithatwist.com

Looking for a night out with the girls or guys or for a date night?  BYOB – red, white or rose and come to socialize, connect with friends over a glass, have some snacks and oh, by the way – learn to paint!  Started by two friends in 2007 after Hurricane Katrina as a way to build community, these events are more about the “experience” than a traditional art class.  In addition, do good while having fun with their Painting with a Purpose program. Each month, their studios host a painting event to raise funds for a local or regional non-profit organization.

Two-hour classes are offered for $39 and three-hour classes for $48. Custom painting for $58. Family day classes are hosted Saturday and Sunday for $28 per person.

Painting with a Twist has multiple locations. Visit them in Coral Gables at 1566 SW 22nd Street, Miami, Florida 33145, in Miami Beach at 932 71st Street, Miami Beach, Florida 33141, in Kendall at 12582 SW 88th Street, Miami, Florida 33186 and in Miami Lakes at 15100 NW 67th Avenue, #111, Miami Lakes, Florida 33014.  Tel:  (786) 310-5827.

Skydiving in Miami – miamiskydivingcenter.com

If former president George Bush could jump out of a plane on his 90th birthday, you can do it, too!  At the Miami Skydiving Center, you can witness the beauty of Miami’s cityscape from a bird’s eye view as you drift gently back to earth with your open parachute.

Sign up for their Accelerated Freefall Program (AFP) to prepare you for your first solo dive.  Classes, which typically take 2-4 hours to complete, hold 4-8 people and include up to 30 minutes of pre-flight instruction.  Instructors help you gear up and board the plane and once you are two miles up, doors open!  If you can, smile for a video.  Once you’ve gotten the hang of it and are ready for more advanced options, try belly flying, free flying (vertical flying), sky boarding and even donning a birdman suit.

Jumps take place at one of two locations: The Miami Homestead General Aviation Airport or the Miami Executive Airport.  You will be notified within 24 hours of your jump time to let you know which location to go to.  Prices range from $249 cash/person for a tandem jump.  Photos and videos available for an additional $89-99.
