Gas Bijoux Miami fashion jewelry or as they call it “haute fantasie” is like a cult. Women and men buy an item and they get hooked, going on to add to their collection over many years. I’m a new cult member, having made the difficult decision of which bracelet(s), earrings or rings to buy. I got a man’s bracelet, too, for a client who has a bracelet collection. Though select pieces are sold at high end department stores, now there’s a dedicated shop to buy them in Miami – in Coconut Grove.

The company has quite the story. It was founded in 1969 by Andre Gas ,a young artist from Marseilles who graduated from the Paris Beaux Arts School. He started his business selling lucky charms and it grew from there. Today he’s still involved in the creative, but has 80 artisans working for the firm and his family is involved in the business from their headquarters in Marseilles.

The Gas Bijoux Miami boutique is attractive and stylish, and smartly arranged by small areas, each devoted to jewelry and straw hats of a different color – turquoise, mandarin orange, blue , There’s also a display case with men’s bracelets, necklaces and rings, along with a special selection of a men’s line that’s a collaboration with Vilebrequin and an area devoted to children’s string bracelets. When you go you’ll meet the lovely Alana Savinon who is passionate about the jewelry, owning 1000 pieces (50 brooches alone).

The most popular items are Constantine necklaces with three charms that can be changed, as there are new additions every year; women’s silver and gold bracelets made for mixing and matching; all styles of earrings from hoops ,chandeliers and others made with feathers to discrete models; and “lucky bracelets” , string bracelets with a charm in gold, silver or enamel. There’s also a limited edition collection where only two or three pieces are made.

New for this season are ankle bracelets (yes, they’re back) and chains worn around the waist to complement a bikini. Note that the far majority of earrings are for pierced ears though there are some clip on models and some of the models for pierced ears can be converted to clip ons. Jewelry ranges in price from under $100 to the low hundreds.

All the jewelry is 24 karat gold plated, .Semi precious and precious stones are used, and in some models there’s hand painted enamel. If you have any vintage pieces (over 20 years old), if there’s any problem you can bring in the piece to be redipped or stones replaced at a charge.

They also sell a small selection of straw hats and scarves, and their own branded fragrances.

The Gas Bijoux Miami shop is in the “new” Cocowalk, worth a visit on its own with its new restaurants and new shops to the neighborhood as well as a renovated movie theater.

please can you suggest a wonderful restaurant in the Wynwood area for me to take my friend for his big birthday – he enjoys really good food and loves to try new places – well new to him
My favorite restaurants in Wynwood for food are Crudos and Doya. If you want to go up to the design district, Cote is always a top choice. If you want to do something different, check at Moon which is owned by the same person as Astra. The food is med but the big story is the nightly entertainment (about 1 1/2 hours) that ranges from cabaret to burlesque and more.
Also, I almost forgot Doma Italian restaurant.
