If you were looking for a florist in Miami with an artist’s sensibility, a good place to look would be Miami’s new art destination, Little River. And there I found Sara Darling, owner, romantic, and floral curator of Rose Coloured, who has a Master of Art History degree and held positions at many local arts institutions including the ICA before opening her shop. Not only do her creations have an artist’s je ne sais quoi, but she also directly partners with practicing artists of various disciplines in what will be a quarterly series of exhibitions.

The shop’s current show, Memphis, is a collaboration between Rose Coloured x Gabriela Noelle featuring a limited run of vessels inspired by Memphis Design and Miami’s Art Deco era.

Every month Sara sets a color palette depending on what organic flowers are in season. In May, with spring flowers, the colors are shades of pink, purple, yellow, mauve and dusty shades.

A unique feature of the shop which we loved is the stem bar, a wide selection of flowers displayed on a pedestal where you can buy a single stem starting from $2. This includes special variations on standards like roses and carnations, but also showcases speciality flowers from the Netherlands, Japan and South Africa.

Bouquets start at $48. Aside from its retail component, Rose Coloured is also a boutique floral studio designing for weddings and large scale events. Recent brands they’ve created for include Adidas and Club Monaco.
It’s an inviting space, with floral displays throughout, a section of screen printed greeting cards, and a sitting area with comfy sofa and upholstered chairs. The sofa currently showcases accent pillows by Gabriela Noelle, featuring her whimsical acrylic flowers.
The shop delivers within Miami-Dade County and travel for weddings and events is welcome.
