Miami Swim Week 2018 closed last week and it was bigger and better than ever with runway shows, exhibits and parties galore. What may surprise you is that this is the most prominent swim week in the US. Events were centered in Miami Beach, at the Convention Center, in tents in Collins Park, and hotels including 1 Hotel and the W South Beach. Not only were there bathing suits and beach wear for men and women, but beauty products , accessories (lots of hats), and even beverage (coconut waters). Designers from Bali and Crete to Brazil, France and the UK were represented. Here’s a photo gallery of some of my favorite pieces. Note that the fashions are the Spring 2019 collections so will be in the shops or online late this year.

Parioca is a men’s label from Rio de Janeiro with an unexpected surprise. What looks like just graphic designs turn out to be erotic, repeating patterns. They also have pareus that work for women as well.

Less is more with this lacey bikini which comes in turquoise, white, taupe and black. You need a good tan — out of the bottle or the real thing — to wear this one. PilyQ
The floats shown earlier are from France but aren’t they perfect for Miami? And get the double…..you can just imagine sharing it with a romantic interest, enjoying a glass of champagne in the pool. The Nice Fleet

Can you believe these earrings from Crete are made from wool from a kilim rug in rich, luscious colors. The same model also comes with pieces of silk. Katerina Makriyianni
Whatever you do, it’s a good idea to keep the face protected from too much sun. And how about this hat to do the trick?
