Daycation: SLS South Beach Day Pass, My Experience

Yours truly thoroughly enjoying my daycation

After  four months pretty much in lockdown, don’t you feel you need to mix it up? I sure do.  So no coincidence all of the posts about scenic drives and walks, daycations and staycations, with more to come. One of the better days we’ve had since March was the daycation with the SLS South Beach day pass last week. It was super fun, easy, we enjoyed very good service, and felt totally refreshed.  Plus, with the safety protocols in place at the resort (social distancing, masks, sanitizers throughout), we felt secure. There are a wide choice of passes depending on the amenities you want and number in your party. Here’s our first person experience and the options. And check out an updated list of day passes for pool and beach at luxury Miami Pools at the end.

The beach was almost empty, water more transparent than I can remember it.

We booked in advance which is essential, since they limit the number of people daily for social distancing. Our car was valeted, and off we went to the front desk to check in complete with an ID. The front desk person escorted us to the pool concierge who took us to the beach, stop #1. With afternoon rain not infrequent, we went to the beach first and early, at 10 a.m..

The beach attendant took us to our socially distanced chairs with umbrella and a bucket of a selection of waters on ice. The beach was pristine, with very few people, and the water more transparent than we could remember. We were offered a menu of food, drinks and signature cocktails, and the wonderful attendant Frederick frequently checked back to see that everything was fine, making us feel totally pampered.

At Noon the rain came. To the rescue the attendant who gave us rain ponchos and an umbrella so we could make our way to the pool area. We staked out a pool cabana, sheltered from the rain, and got fresh towels and towel covers for the couch cushions. Mr. W enjoyed the lap pool, one of two, getting in his exercise before lunch and I read my accumulated magazines.

Next up, lunch at Hyde Beach in the covered patio overlooking the pool, with appropriate social distancing. We enjoyed  a glass of Sancerre, guac, turkey BLT on multi grain bread and mahi mahi sandwich, finished off with espresso. After lingering, by then it was 4 p.m. and time to go home. They called for our car which arrived in a matter of minutes and off we went home, feeling as if we had truly been away.
