Looking for cool and different things to do quarantined at home? Here ‘s my list, sure to keep you happily busy, Part 1.
Explore Miami and Paris Museums without Walls
Paris Musées, a collection of 14 museums in Paris have recently made high-res digital copies of 100,000 artworks freely available to the public on their collections website. Artists with works in the archive include Rembrandt, Monet, Picasso, Cézanne, and thousands of others. And here in Miami, the Lowe Art Museum has#LoweOnTheGo, a new digital resource that will “deliver” a single work of art from their collections directly to your inbox each day. Plus, you can explore their permanent collection which spans 5,000 years of human creativity on every inhabited continent. (emuseum1.as.miami.edu/collections) and browse, read and download their publications.(scholarlyrepository.miami.edu/lowe_art_museum_catalogs). Vizcaya Museum’s website has online tours of the main house and a 3D look at the barge and swimming pool grotto. Here’s the link. The Bass Museum, too, has an Art Camp From Home as their team guides you through family projects. They’re also bringing their educational resources online for free, featuring fun, at-home activities and lesson plans for all ages.
Enjoy an International Symphony Orchestra Concert “live” from Home
Stream a concert by a top international symphony orchestra or leading music group ranging from the Met Opera to the Berlin Philharmonic. Often there is no charge. For a list of some of these click here.
Experiment with a New Beauty Routine
Now’s the chance to experiment with beauty routines like new creams, masks, and the like, since even if you break out from any of them, who is going out anyway? As a gift I got a box of six face masks for all skin types from Peter Thomas Roth called Mask Frenzy that included 24K gold, an Irish Moor mud mask, and rose stem cell , plus others, and all for $75. Great fun.
Start Your Spring Clean Out and Organization Early
Accelerate your spring closet cleaning and get rid of clothes you never wear or housewares you never use. Either sell them at consignment stores or donate them to worthwhile not for profits. For a list of places to donate, click here. Organize the drawer that has been begging for order, or (this is what I’m going to do) finally get your filing cabinet in order.
Research Your Next Trip and Maybe Even Book Your Flight
It might not be prudent to travel now, but what could be a more upbeat exercise than researching your next trip? Plus, as soon as the coast is clear, you’ll be ready to pounce on what surely will be great deals to get people traveling again. Or,you may even want to consider booking flights now. One of my sons has snagged some really amazing deals. We’re talking non stop from Miami to LA through July for under $100 and to New York City through August for under $75.
Any others that are working for you? Email me karen@miamicurated.com. And if you have a photo of you doing this, please send that along too if I can use it. Stay tuned for Part 2, more ideas.
Stay well!!! A big hug, Karen
