Miami cooking classes are a great way to sample foods from different countries, learn new cooking skills and/or meet people . Here are six mostly chef owned or operated cooking classes which focus on different topics or themes and audiences including Kids’ Cooking Camps.  Depending on how you want to participate, there’s a class for you. Also, the things to consider when choosing a Miami cooking class:

INSTRUCTOR LED CLASS (sometimes called Master Class)
An instructor demonstrates cooking techniques and is the only one doing the chopping and cooking while an audience watches and absorbs the information.
HANDS ON
Hands on usually means you’ll have your own or shared station for prepping and/or cooking. Sushi classes are especially suitable for this type of class.
COMBINATION CLASS
Sometimes, it can be a combination of both like my cooking class. I show cutting techniques but have two woks and stoves so a guest is invited to do some stir frying with me.
DURATION
Classes can be 1-3 hours long or even spread over a few weeks depending on topic or technique.
THEMES
While researching Miami Cooking Classes, I was surprised Cuban, Puerto Rican, Venezuelan, Brazilian, Haitian or Caribbean classes were non existent. If you know of any, please let us know in COMMENTS.
Popular ones are sushi making, Thai and Pasta making.
WHAT’S YOUR COOKING STYLE?
Are you dependent on “recipes” or prefer “freestyle”?  Most Miami cooking classes are “recipe based”.
PRIVATE GROUP OR PUBLIC CLASS?
Many chefs offer private group classes and fewer public classes now. This means you can organize your friends to take a class together in one person’s home or the chef’s location. You can even request dishes you want to learn.
Public cooking classes means most guests don’t know each other unless you go with a friend.
ONLINE CLASSES
This is a fantastic option if you have friends dotted all over the world you want to take a class with or if you are hesitant to take a class with others. In my opinion, it’s a wonderful option for both guest and instructor. For guests, you get to take a class in your own environment, there’s no travel time or parking issues. For the instructor, it’s so much less work with not having to cart everything to a venue. Folks don’t realize the amount of ‘behind the scenes’ work involved.
READY?
Here are 6 Miami cooking classes I think will satisfy most of you or for your kids. Alright, are you ready to find your perfect cooking class?

Chef Maria Cummins and Arthur Cummins, a wife and husband outfit that have this down! I love Maria’s saying, “I gave birth to the company and Arthur raised it”.
They are so organized and offer a wide variety of themed classes with cute names like “Naughty Vegan” for adults, “Chopped Food Challenge Competition” for teenagers and “Around the World Cuisine” for kids.  AND they have the most beautiful space to take a class, high ceilings and open space filled with light. They have hosted my cooking class there, so I have first hand experience of this venue. Check out their schedule for exciting themed classes including weekly Summer Camp for kids, a specialty of theirs.
Their goals? Teaching you how to cook and eat real food vs processed food all while having FUN!

Chef Abe Moiz started giving Indonesian cooking classes in the back of his restaurant, Krakatoa beginning 2022. Chef Abe is not culinary trained but enjoys putting together dishes with flavors he grew up eating from his mom. So much so that he has bottled those flavors called 1700 Flavors and teaches you how to use them in the class in 4-5 dishes. He is located on the popular Hollywood Blvd. restaurant row and classes are every other Wednesday, 8 lucky guests cook together with shared stove stations.
His goal? To bring Indonesian flavors into your home so you can make any dish taste Indonesian. Genius.

Can I be a child again?
Her adult cooking classes at Miami Culinarty Institute will return in the fall. Her recent cookbook: The Essential Cuban Cookbook brings her family stories to help us cook Cuban food at home. Please hound her till she puts together a series of Cuban Miami cooking classes. I definitely want to take some from her!
Her goals? Fall crazy in love with the art of bringing people together through food!

Cozy Meal is a great concept, it’s an “experience” platform for booking Miami cooking classes. People leave reviews so it’s easy to guage which classes are popular and have had good experiences with the chefs. This is how I came to pick Chef Vivian & Michi, a husband and wife duo, who have high ratings and reviews. From Peruvian, Italian, Mediterranean to Sushi hand rolls, they have a total of 12 cooking classes. Classes are mostly held in their kitchen but for classes like Hand Rolled Sushi, they will travel to a guest’s home.
Their goal? If you are seeking a new journey of culinary exploration, take the first step by booking one of their cooking classes!

Anyone can be a Wok Star and in my 3 hour cooking class, you’ll be introduced to my approach to cooking WITHOUT recipes or exact measuring. I’ll show you how to improvise with what you have, using only 4 seasonings and a few fresh ingredients to make delicious dishes. It’s an easy and quick weeknight dinner solution for busy lifestyles as well as being adaptable to any diet. My classes are held in a variety of beautiful venues like upscale kitchen showrooms or restaurants.
My goal? To help you achieve success and have FUN at home, I have put together a WOK STAR KIT with the right tools and techniques.
