A welcome new addition to the fashion boutique scene is Shirlanka in Wynwood, with a collection from 20 different, up and coming designers from New York, Los Angeles and Colombia. Names include A Modo Mio, Andrea Landa, Crisobela, Margarita Diaz del Castillo, and Miss Balanta.
The beloved baby of former architect and Colombian fashionista Shirley Gutierrez, she handpicks all designs with a view to clothes, hats, handbags, shoes and jewelry that work on the job, at a pool party or for a fancy evening out.
Designers are new to Miami, their designs creative, fashion forward without being over the top, and many with the feminine touch that Latins are so good at imparting.
I especially liked the white blouses in cotton and flowing fabrics and the t-shirts, each with an unexpected and attractive design element.
Body suits were also very attractive and wearable, perfect to team up with jeans. And then there were some statement pieces, like this floral raincoat.
The other thing I liked is the different price points. Find a look alike leather flounce skirt for $35 or a stylish, genuine leather model for $880.
Most items are reasonably priced, such as dresses for $80, fine leather ankle boots for $180, all accessories from $150 to $180 – you get the picture.
Shirlanka is in the Wynwood Arcade, 50 NW 24th Street, Suite 105. And while you’re there, other places to check out are Osme Perfumery and Apothecary, Patrizia Bozzi interior design, Edite Mode fashion boutique and end up with a donut at cult spot Salty Donut (for more info, click here).
