Looking for ways to celebrate Halloween in Miami or Fort Lauderdale? From a trio of pumpkin facials and hotel happenings to Vizcaya, the Zoo, the beach and more, there’s an array of ghoulishly good times in store for Miami and Fort Lauderdale residents and visitors this Halloween. Here are our picks for the top Halloween events  in Miami and Fort Lauderdale this year:

 

30th Annual Halloween Sundowner at Vizcaya Museum & Gardens

Saturday, Oct. 29, 8 p.m. to Midnight

Held in one of Miami’s most iconic and luxurious estates, the Halloween Sundowner event at Vizcaya Museum & Gardens has attracted 1,000 guests each Halloween for the past 30 years. In celebration of the estate’s history, this year’s event will feature a Prohibition theme where guests will be able to experience the 1920’s through spooky yet glamorous décor and live entertainment. Guests are welcome to dress for the theme or wear the costume of their choice. There will be a costume contest for best female costume, best male costume and best couples costume. The date is set for Saturday, October 29. Tickets include open bar from 8 p.m. through midnight, food and entertainment. General admission tickets are $165 per person. Must be 21 to attend. Malice in Wonderland Party at Baoli Miami

Baoli Miami invites guests down the rabbit hole for “Malice in Wonderland,” the Halloween edition of its well-known Wednesday night party, My Boyfriend is Out of Town. With special appearances from the White Rabbit, Queen of Hearts and Malice herself, the evening will be filled with wondrous characters and entertainment fueled by fantasy and imagination. Following a strict dress code, guests should dress to impress and match the theme. For the first time in the venue’s history, ticket sales include a VIP open bar option ($150), which includes event entrance as well as access to Baoli’s full drink menu from 7 – 9 p.m. For those interested in dining, advanced reservations are required, separate from ticket purchase, and include a complimentary glass of champagne. Pumpkin Facials at Dr. Pattys Dental Boutique and Spa

Why not trick yourself into a little treat this Halloween? Dr. Patty’s Dental Boutique & Spa is offering a trio of facials starring one of fall’s favorite ingredients – pumpkin. Packed with vitamins C and K, minerals and enzymes, pumpkin is great for brightening and nourishing the skin. The three pumpkin facials include a Pumpkin Spice Mocha Facial ($119), featuring a pumpkin peel and scrub finished off with a chocolate Cacao mocha mask for deep moisture; a Pumpkin Pie Relaxing Back Facial ($99); and a Pumpkin Cranberry Refreshing Facial ($79). Halloween Party at El Tucán

El Tucán, the popular Latin-inspired dinner and show concept in the heart of Brickell, will be hosting a Dirty Dancing-themed Halloween party on Saturday, October 29. The curtains will sweep open as special guest Patrick and The Swayzees perform at the venue for the evening. Guest are encouraged to dress up as their best Baby Houseman and Johnny Castle, although it’s not mandatory. Introduced by owners Michael Ridard and Mathieu Massa, El Tucán is more than just a dinner and a show experience – it is a cabaret moment that pays homage to Cuba in the 1940s. The restaurant’s prix fixed Latin inspired menu is served tapas-style; the cost is $85 per person upstairs and $105 downstairs on the main floor (Friday-Saturday). Halloween Bash at Cantina La Veinte

Cantina La Veinte is throwing a festive Halloween Bash on Saturday, October 29, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. The evening will include a costume contest and the top three best dressed (dining guests only) will win a variety of prizes. The 1st place winner will walk away with a $300 gift card to the restaurant, the 2nd place winner will receive a bottle of Dom Perignon, and the 3rd place winner will take home a bottle of Don Julio. The restaurant’s regular a la carte menu and regular reservations will be available. There will also be special dishes and cocktails to celebrate the night. Located in downtown Brickell, Cantina La Veinte serves Mexican cuisine in a playful yet sophisticated two-floor waterfront space featuring a black onyx bar and outdoor patio. Menu highlights include the Cochinita Pibil ($24), braised pork marinated in a traditional achiote-orange sauce and pickled red onion; Short Rib Braseada ($36), braised short rib in agave demiglass with potatoe-guajillo puree; and Callos De Hacha Sellados Con Arroz Poblano ($36), seared scallops in a creamy poblano rice with sautéed mushrooms and truffle oil.

 

Biltmore Hotel Annual Halloween Party

The legendary Biltmore Hotel, located in the heart of Coral Gables, is hosting its Annual Halloween Party inside the hotel’s iconic Country Club Ballroom. Filled with illusions and indulgence, the event will take place Friday, Oct. 28th from 8 p.m. to midnight. Featuring an open bar, buffet dinner and live entertainment, the party promises a night of fun with prizes awarded to those guests with the most creative (must be handmade), spookiest and best couples costumes. Now through Oct. 17th tickets are priced at $80 for club members and $100 for non-members; tickets purchased after Oct. 17th are priced at $100 for club members and $120 for the public. Nightmare on the Beach at Lummus Park

This year’s Halloween event at Lummus Park is themed after the traditional Mexican holiday, Dia de los Muertos, or “Day of the Dead” – a celebration of loved ones who have passed. The event, entitled Nightmare on the Beach, is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 29th, from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Tickets include top shelf cocktails, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages during the event, as well as samples from sponsoring restaurant  and catering partners. All proceeds will benefit the Little Lighthouse Foundation, a non-profit organization, which supports children with educational, financial and medical hardships through the Little Lighthouse Foundation’s volunteers and programming. Tickers are $175 per person. Monster Masquerade at Zoo Miami

Zoo Miami is celebrating Halloween early with an adults-only costume party on Saturday, October 21, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. On this night, attendees may stroll the moonlit walkways as living and non-living things greet them with scary sights and sounds. The event will feature an open bar; “Witches Brew Garden” with five different craft beers; savory treats from food sponsors such as Shack Shack; a full-scale haunted house with live actors and animatronics; a costume contest; music and more. Tickets for Zoo members cost $70 per person and for non-members cost $75 per person. A group discount and VIP tickets are also available.
