Hi Karen, I\’m looking for a good, not too pricey restaurant somewhere between Miami Beach (where we live) and Coral Gables, where our friends live.  Must be a place where we can hear each other\’s conversation (unlike many Miami restaurants). Your thoughts?

Can you give me a little more information. Lunch or dinner? What’s your budget for two? Any kind of cuisine you don’t like?

Jackie answered 7 years ago

Dinner, $50 pp without wine, mediterranean or American cuisine.

It’s funny how tough it is. That being said, I really like Valentia, an import from Valencia, Spain. The fish is flown in from Spain (very fresh), the meat and everything else is high quality, it’s comfortable, very good service, and not noisy. Other ideas: Villagio in the Village of Merrick Park (same owners as Carpaccio in Bal Harbour) though you have to sit outside; Mina’s Mediterraneo for Eastern Med cuisine including Middle Eastern — casual, and sit in the covered garden; and O Munaciello, an import from Florence, for pizza and pastas (79th and Biscayne). I’ve written them all up except for Il Villagio if you want to know more. love to hear which you chose and what you think.

I also forgot to mention DOA. It’s Asian fusion cuisine on the beach, at 20th and Collins. Reliably delicious food, good service and you can talk!
