Where do you go that is consistently excellent (an issue in Miami!) and that is not generally known by tourists?
Please include food, service and decor in your answer.
You can also choose one restaurant per area, if needed.
You’re so right that consistency tends to be an issue here. The restaurant that meets your criteria is Pied a Terre. It’s small and intimate, charming, with a casually elegant decor, the kind of restaurant you’d find in the French countryside. Cuisine is French contemporary classic, not surprising since the menu is developed by visiting Michelin star chefs. Patrick Gruest, a partner and maitre d’ is into all the details and it shows. For Italian food I’d put Toscana Divino in the Brickell area in this category — reliably excellent food, casually elegant decor, solid service. And my newest find is Alter in Wynwood, new American cuisine from Brad Kilgore.
