Eye Popping Workout Clothes
Whenever I wear the workout clothes (which by the way, also work for going out for a casual lunch or doing errands) I got at new Brazilian shop Equilibrium Activewear, I get compliments. Even from people in my gym populated by Latin fashionistas. The vibrant colors , feminine and creative designs are no less than eye popping.
All of the clothes are designed and made in Brazil by a mother and daughter team – Tatyane and Jane Martins — who opened up their retail outlet in Little River in a cool area of shops, galleries and work spaces of the creative set. And even better yet, there’s a special readers deal they’re offering.
First the designs – find tops with everything from lattice work and corset type tie ups to mesh insets and shoulder ties with a swagger. Leggings don’t just have the usual abstract prints and stripes, but 3-D flowers that “blossom” from the side, laser cutouts, imprints of a tropical village, florals and more. There are also fitted jackets, colorful print shorts, saucy little skirts and blousy tops for over workout gear.
It’s not just the designs that are special, but also, the fabric. It’s made of Supplex that’s super light and dries quickly, perfect for the Miami climate. Plus, it has UV protection and doesn’t shrink or fade.
Decorative hardware is hypoallergenic. You can see the quality in features like a double lined top which doesn’t necessitate wearing a sports bra.
Prices are reasonable, especially given the quality. Tops are priced in the $60 range and leggings average in the $80’s. Mention MiamiCurated and they’ll give you a 20% discount!
And while you’re there, have a look at the Artscape Lab gallery owned by a Venezuelan couple who specializes in contemporary Latin American art. Hungry? There’s a cool café , Rail 71 Cafe that serves up sandwiches, coffee, pastry and the like.
