Editor’s Note: This was written in September, 2015 so rates could have increased since then but the hotels should still be good bets for affordable rates and worth checking out.

This is part 3 of a three part series on affordable hotels in Miami. Here we focus on choices in South Beach and Coconut Grove. Click here for Part 1 on Brickell and Downtown and Part 2 on Coral Gables, South Miami/Pinecrest and Sunny Isles. Note: All hotels earned a rating of 3.5 or higher on TripAdvisor.
SOUTH BEACH
1120 Collins Avenue
Sitting in the heart of South Beach, right on popular Collins Avenue, this historic Art Deco haunt promises classic style, eclectic decor, top-notch service, and mouthwatering food and drink from its in-house restaurant, Primrose.
Low Season: Rates starting from $171/weekend night
High Season: Rates starting from $233/weekend night
4833 Collins Avenue
There’s nothing more Miami than staying near the Fontainebleau, unless you’re actually staying at the Fontainebleau. But since those rates average at $500+ a night, check out this hotel just a few doors down; it promises all of the luxury and people-watching, without the pricetag.
Low Season: Rates starting from $149/weekend night
High Season: Rates starting from $239/weekend night
3900 Collins Avenue
Three words describe the exclusive Circa 39 hotel: breezy, tropical and elegant. With all of the luxury and beachfront property as its sister hotel, The Palms Hotel & Spa, with a lower price point and more boutique feel, this hotel is one of Miami Beach’s best hidden gems.
Low Season: Rates starting from $127/weekend night
High Season: Rates starting from $299/weekend night
COCONUT GROVE
2889 McFarlane Road
A landmark hotel in Coconut Grove, the luxe Sonesta Hotel has panoramic views of Miami’s beautiful Biscayne Bay, which is right across the street. For a true taste of one of the city’s trendiest areas, book a room and head right downstairs: the hotel is directly next to the boutique shops, bars and restaurants of “the Grove’s” ever-popular CocoWalk and Main Highway.
Low Season: Rates starting from $147/weekend night
High Season: Rates starting from $147/weekend night
2649 South Bayshore Drive
When you put an affordable hotel by one of the world’s most trusted hotel brands in one of Miami’s most popular neighborhoods, there’s not much you can say against it. Add in the fact that it includes sweeping views of Biscayne Bay, and you may have found your next weekend destination.
Low Season: Rates starting from $107/weekend night
High Season: Rates starting from $279/weekend night

This is a great list of suggestions to keep for my next trip to Miami!
Thank you! It wasn’t easy to come up with the list because hotel rates in Miami have really escalated.
We stayed at The Palms earlier this year and loved it. Stopped in at Circa 39 too, just to take a look.
Did you go to the Palms’ restaurant Essensia? The food is excellent and well priced.
This sure is a handy list to have when Miami-bound!
Some great Miami suggestions here! I’ve pinned to Pinterest so I can remember to check the list next time I head to Miami. Circa 39 seems like an especially good deal.
Great list, I really enjoyed staying at some of these.
