A travel tip, that’s what a colleague asked me for a blog she’s writing for the Huffington Post. I didn’t have to hesitate for a moment to come up with an answer. My cashmere travel blanket from Restoration Hardware with a store in Aventura Mall. It makes me feel luxurious when I’m on the plane as it’s better than most airline blankets you can find in business or even first class. I bought one in white with grey trim so it goes with everything. Not only do I use it inflight, but also, often in a hotel room that’s too cold, and it even doubles as a shawl in a pinch. They no longer make the one I bought but the cashmere throws advertised on the website are quite attractive, come in 8 colors , and cost $249 . If you’re not in a hurry to buy them, they sometimes have sales with serious savings. They say to dry clean them but I wash mine in cold water and Woolite. Do you have a travel tip you’d like to share? P.S. Full disclosure — I couldn’t find an image they’d let me upload from Restoration Hardware so this is one with throws that look similar.

Thanks for the great tip! I have several N. Peal cashmere capes but the thought of losing one during travel scares me. This is a wonderful alternative.
Karen:
I was so excited to see this post because I also use a cashmere travel blanket too. I bought mine from Neiman Marcus / Horchow about 4 years ago and it was in a sale catalog. I paid $100 for a great blanket that came with a zipper cashmere travel case. It’s the first thing I put aside when preparing to pack for a trip. For those of you who read this post, Karen is “right on” with this one!
I travel with a night light for hotel bathrooms
Great idea, thanks for sharing it.
