Z Gallerie for a Dose of Glamour

A dose of “glam” in the bedroom, bath or even dining table is such fun isn’t it? And even better if it doesn’t break the bank. We’re talking about everything from glass Art Deco perfume bottles and enameled picture frames in luscious colors to decorative candles and everything for the well dressed table. That’s why a new favorite shop is Z Gallerie with stores in The Shops at Sunset Place, 5701 Sunset Drive, and The Village at Gulfstream Park. And for higher end, check out Thread Count in the Design District.

What I especially like is that everything is arranged by color and what colors. Turquoise, tangerine, silver, gold, and white. In each section find pillows in fabrics like silk and velveteen, fancy goblets and tumblers, mantel pieces, chargers and plates, and other home accessories, which vary by section. The curtains — silks, linens, gauzy fabrics — are lovely, and the day I went I found this bar cart on sale (pictured in the photo gallery).

Then there are unusual pieces like a turquoise lucite box filled with turquoise dominos with rhinestones (imagine going to play with that box), all manner of rhinestone studded key rings, and Chinchilla throws. Table settings using different color schemes are sources of inspiration, and conjure up romantic dinners by candlelight.

Using too many of the pieces could be too much, and the art work isn’t at all my cup of tea, but for an injection of “jazz” into a special room and as a gift, this is the place for those finds. I ended up buying leather placemats that look like stingray for $9.95 each.  I considered my day a success.

If you’re looking for accessories for the bath as well as table linens and want top of the line, head over to Thread Count in the Design District, 125 N.E.40th Street. I had looked in the windows months ago and thought they only had bed linens, but recently walked in and saw the gorgeous glass accessories for the bathroom and hand-stitched, embroidered linen dinner napkins. And even if you’re not in the market, it’s a pleasure to see the fine workmanship and quality.
