Since getting into wok cooking, I’ve been surprised at the number of my friends who often cook with a wok. What I found out though is that there are woks and then there’s one of the best woks: cast iron — that is super lightweight which I can hold in one hand! But hold on. To be “transformative’ it takes more. But first the wok itself. Since buying it, it has become my “go to” pan for cooking or heating up most anything. The fabulosity, though, is the four piece Wok Star Kit Bundle. This includes:
1.) Wok Star Kit: preseasoned lightweight, round bottom cast iron wok, mitts (very important), special spatula and lid. Organizational tools like a caddy basket with dispensers for seasonings. 3 instructional discs with accompanying laminated cheat sheet. Even a novice like myself was able to follow this from the get go.
2.) Wok Gas Stove: Gas makes a huge difference in producing high heat, and for those of us in apartments who can’t have a gas stove, this comes to the rescue.
3.) Chinese Chef Knife or a Damascus Steel 8 Inch Chef Knife with Colored Handle — it not only works beautifully but you look the part!
4.) Four basic seasonings
Then viola, even a reluctant cook like myself can become a Wok Star (I still need more practice, but getting there by leaps and bounds).
The entire Wok Star Kit Bundle is $216 (terrific present too). They’ll ship it to anywhere in the world. And if you want to jumpstart everything, check out Eleanor Hoh’s wok cooking classes.
