While it will always be known for its hipster, art vibes and gentrified feel, Wynwood is gradually getting more and more upscale. From top restaurants like Alter – which started the luxury movement in this once-destitute neighborhood – to haute shops like MVM Miami, Marie Saint Pierre and Illesteva, Wynwood has become a must-see neighborhood for every type of patron. And since we love all things shopping, we’ve rounded up our favorite shops this up-and-coming part of the city has to offer. Check them out, below:
This high-end women’s boutique has everything from belts, glasses and jewelry, to hot iPhone accessories by top designers, raved-about clothing from around the world, and everything else the Magic City’s most vogue women crave. MVM Miami is a design-driven store that’s open Monday through Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
BASICO
Located right across the street from Panther Coffee, Basico is a hip menswear store only has top brands like Zanerobe, Scotch and Soda and Closed, to name a few. The owner, Francesco Cianci, is from Colombia, and boasts a haute taste perfect for only the most stylish men of Miami. Villquebrun-style swim trunks can be found in bright colors and marine prints for just $98 and $59 apiece, for men and boys respectively, while other clothes and accessories – including a leather sneaksby sully wong and pocket watches – come from Italy, Australia, Norway and more.
WYNWOOD LETTER PRESS
Understanding the value of a proper invitation, Wynwood Letter Press is a stationary and card shop that creates bespoke customized invites, thank-you cards and other soirée-related paper goods guaranteed to impress their recipients. Step inside, and you’ll find unique products like its “Birthday Party in a Jar,” writing tools, creative office necessities , one-of-a-kind decorations and anything else you could want from a card store: like whimsical notecards, pens, charismatic paper clips, Christian Lacroix notebooks and more.
INIVA
Owned by two French women Burkina Faso and Gabon, Iniva boasts handmade clothing, cloth jewelry, art, handbags, soap, candles and more; all inspired by African designs. As the owners’ first location of the storefront outside of West Africa, this store invites shoppers to browse through its unique items: like furniture made from recycled materials, as well as clothing made with African motifs that have been updated to fit 21st-century fashions.
SHINOLA
Originally based in Detroit, Shinola boasts classic, stylish American leather goods, watches and even bikes; all made in the USA. The store itself looks like a warehouse, and has a black façade, Shinola’s signature clock face suspended over the entrance, and a quarterly rotation of works by local artists, organizations and museums – all of with stay in line with Wynwood’s art trends.
BOHO HUNTER
Boho Hunter, which is owned and operated by Latino expats, boasts collections of gold-plated costume jewelry, gold-meets-silver rings, spiked bracelets, collars and more; most of which are handmade and feature atypical designs. I also liked the stylish plastic dishes and bowls for entertaining, perfect for summer picnics. In terms of textile products, they have light, colorful woven tote bags from Oaxaca, handbags, wraps made in Colombia, and acrylic Pop art clutches for $175 that are similar to designer models that cost four figures elsewhere.
ILLESTEVA
This eyeglass storefront is unlike any other in Miami – it only sells handmade frames made in Italy, and even lets the buyer play a part in the design. From two base models at different price points ($190 and $300), shoppers can combine lenses, frames, temple pieces and more – all in different colors and styles – to create their own, customized eyeglasses. Want to add even more flair to your style? Illesteva is also home to accessories like silver and gold backpacks, glamorous umbrellas and cool shoulder bags.
